INKS
I've been searching and can't seem to find any information on which dynasty uses the most canoptyk machines? is there one? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385050-canoptyk-dynasties/ Share on other sites
NTaW
I don't think there's any Dynasty specifically stated as using more Canoptek constructs than others. Perhaps you could say that due to their technological prestige the Mephrit Dynasty would make more use out of them. I can't recall which book this is from, but I do seem to recall a massive construct in space made by the Mephrit Crypteks (but used by the main characters; oh, maybe it's one of the Twice Dead King books) being referred to as "Canoptek". INKS
Thank you, I'll look more into that Dynasty. I recently seen a list, with tons of scarabs and other canoptek models - although not solely, and It got me to wondering who relies on or uses them the most. There doesn't seem to be too much lore out there on it. I supposed maybe Illuminator Szersek? (I am butchering their spelling, apologies) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385050-canoptyk-dynasties/#findComment-6086821 Share on other sites
NTaW
Canoptek constructs are generally caretakers and defenders of the Tomb World. I imagine they're used for conflicts with "lesser" races to preserve Necron troops for more worthwhile engagements. To me, an all-Canoptek force would fit at least those situations perfectly. NTaW
There used to be centipede -like models for Necrons, the Canoptek Tomb Stalker and Tomb Sentinel. They looked cool but I guess sales weren't so great from Forgeworld so now they're Legends. It's crazy to think that since I was trying to get them for years and they were constantly sold out, when they did come back into stock, they were available for days at most before they were sold out again. I was only ever able to get one. The model is a nightmare to build, but it's incredibly posable and looks so cool when done, my favourite model and it's not even close. If these came out in plastic, GW would make a killing. To answer the OP's original question though, since the Canoptek units are caretakers of the sleeping tombs, I'd suggest looking into dynasties that haven't awakened yet or are just starting to stir. Naturally there will be a lot less lore on them, but they would be the ones most actively using Canoptek constructs. TheMawr
I always imagined the Empire of the Severed to be something like that, where the canoptek constructs are the "masters" (or rather the extension of the core system.) though I only know its lore through lexicanum and I dont know if there is much detail to it.
