As we're rumored to be getting a second wave of new models, I thought this would be a good time to reevaluate the datasheets.

Gulliman for example is more expensive but arguably improved even more than his points increased - The changes to OOM, plus his ability to create a second OOM target per turn AND he now gets to pick a second Author ability was a fairly large improvement for him - he got better and the things he makes better got better too.

Marneus Calgar on the other hand probably took one step forwards and one step back.  The rather obvious Calgar Leading an Aggressor Bomb has had the bomb defused, closing the gap on leading Aggressors vs BGV - however the changes to Rites of Battle makes his +1CP per turn even stronger.

The addition of Titus has some interesting play in turning Assault Intercessors up to 11 with their volume of attacks and his Sustained Hits.

Ventris's OTHER ability also got a little more value with the changes to Rites and similar.

Tiggy's Prescience actually naming the limited abilities was able to dodge the Rites style changes - but being a named he gets no real benefit from the Grotmas Det - still his somewhat obvious partnership with BGV - Everyone gets -1 to hit, 3+/4++/4++ to Mortals and Psychic making a similar but slightly better Azrael + Inner Circle - and still keeping the 0CP Heroic Intervention wasn't a step back.

I agree, Titus + Assault Intercessors is great because his lore fits so much with the game mechanics, he's exactly what you use for Hordes.

My question to everyone is this, though, does Titus really enhance a UM army?  Marines have no shortage of anti-Horde options, Rifle Intercessors will mow stuff down, probably faster because they start doing so at range.  Like you said, someone like Calgar was a side-grade, but I still see a point for him in a UM army.  I want to do something with Titus, I can see what he's really good at, but not sure that's as important in a UM army.

I really do want a reason to built a Titus army, just not seeing an angle for it right now, please help me.

Just because you think there's "better" doesn't mean there's "right".  Think about tradeoffs. If you take Titus + Assault Intercessors vs say a Libby and Intercessors you might be able to go Libby and Devastators, or some Cent Devs, etc.   Its about the tradeoffs.

It doesn't have to be a Librarian + Intercessors though. Just take a Lieutenant and with those 20 shots (and the frag grenade) you'll skip some of the wounding step altogether.
