40k Minka Lesk Command Squad (and new novel)

Some people can't handle models being released that don't directly fire up their engines. It's a weird thing.

 

Like I don't care in the slightest about Sisters, but I didn't get weird about their last Black Library model. Some people are just wired different.

I love the new  unit , I loved the old figure as well, and Severina Raine was a great model too .

i really like the Scot/Cadian character ! , she would be cool  in killteam …

Nice minis; I haven't read her books, but the sculpts are very nice. I particularly like the standard bearer/Ministorum Priestess(?). Not sure I'd buy them but if I acquire them somehow I imagine they'll make good conversion bases.

I think its neat. I like almost all of those characters in the set. I will likely buy it.

Commissar Shand's sculpt might be one of my favorite commissar sculpts ever. I also really like Ironbrow, who iirc is a Drookian Fen Guard

I don't know anything about the models and their stories and they are too small for me to paint, but man do they look awesome

While I think some of the Characters in the unit are awesome [Commissar + the Sergeant] I can’t help but echo people’s confusion in why Minka lesk is getting another model Cadian Honour was one of the worst [boring] BL reads I’ve endured and I rarely see anyone talking about the series in depth 

 

just seems strange we haven’t had some more fan favourites in the BL model series First Claw, Cain, Crowl + Spinoza with retinue [Id kill for this one] Vadhan or breac, not to mention all of the HH characters people are dying to see, the list goes on 

 

It doesn’t make me mad at all just seems like money left on the table and a missed opportunity

I won't spoil it for those who don't know, but several of the characters mentioned aren't actually around in the current 40k timeline. But others defnitely are, and are even very relevant, like Honsou (the current Iron Warriors leader under daemon prince Perturabo)

These are a book tie-in pure and simple.  If Cain had another book coming out soonish I’m sure we would get a nice Cain & Jurgen set (although I’d much prefer a trio with Amberley, everyone’s favourite Inquisitor).  With you on wanting a First Claw and/or Crowl & Spinoza set of models but their window may have already gone unless we get more BL product about them (from a book tie-in point of view).

Now, the need for GW to flush the range of yesterday’s heroes and give us new models for current rising stars like Honshu is topic for another thread.

I can't believe we haven't gotten a Cain, Jurgen and Amberley set yet. I know Cain is supposed to be dead in the 40K present day (his books are explicitly posthumous accounts) but he's one of the most iconic and likeable heroes from some of the best books BL has ever put out. Like, everyone likes Cain and friends.

 

That said, if we want some deeper cuts, Enforcer Calpurnia from the Arbites books (still gotta read those...) or Inquisitor Defay and Gravier from those awesome graphic novels I have completely forgotten the names of would be amazing.

Cain and his friends would be nice. I'd like the various members of the Hand of Abaddon, there were really cool descriptions of them. Some of the Warhammer Crime characters would be interesting as well. I like the Lesk crew, she and the commissar are the top models in the set.

I am desperate for fewer named special characters, just do more multi-part kits, I'm on my hands and knees. 

 

But at least it's nice when they're named humans, rather than named Astartes. They're nice models, and if I ever find them for cheap I'm sure they'll be good conversion fodder.

I like the models, but the artwork is awkward, looking at the proportions, like with BT codex, it's like someone is doing the artwork who has not a good grasp of proprotions, the legs are too short compared to the body.
