I don’t think Russ is coming back as soon as we first thought.  Maybe end of 11th?  It really doesn’t make lore sense for him to come back yet.  Khan makes more sense from a lore perspective but I get dollars will always trump lore.

 

When he does, I hope they hook him up with Lion, especially since they haven’t done anything with the Lion - Bobby G reunion.  The way the Russ primarch book ended it would be a shame for them not to team up somehow.

From a pure painting and displaying point of view I want Russ to return, but I know that whatever GW do will not be perfect for me or you or anyone if and when we get the sculpt, but that's just us today, so much choice (I remember when this was all lead and named characters, ha good luck with that one ).

 

I don't play, I'm just a painter, but to me it feels like the Primarchs would ruin a game anyway, from their heavy points value to their almost invincible stats, it's like bringing a chainsword to a fist fight.

 

I like the idea of wolves with the Space Wolves, I'd be sad to see them go, just not sad to see the current wolves models go as they just look like they're mid bus crash, legs all over the place.

 

I'm excited to see what we get, some bits will be good, some bad but I will still kitbash until the cows wolves come home.

The Emperor also had a power fist in his armoury, I know they said he clocked Russ with it in the old lore.

E-Money has a full personal arsenal that was mentioned in Mortys primarch book (I think). We can have a piece of emperor gear for every primarch without much justification.

I would like to see some movement in their lore. Maybe a Wolf Lord could fall and we can see how a new Great Company is formed? That's just been a personal lore itch I've had for forever; how many wolf legends can you base wolf armies off wolf of?

 

Model-wise, would be fun if they went in even more on the literal wolves. Give me a giant wolf pack leader character model so I can have an all canine army.

 

Not sure if I care for Leman Russ coming back, but @sbarnby71's idea of a feral warp survivor Russ is fun.

If I remember correctly we've got at least 2 Jarls who've eithet been alluded to dying or are basically confirmed as lost, plus Ovren Highfell who's still using the Iron Wolf totem because they haven't updated the annulus.

 

Sven Bloodhowl was lost at Cadia and if my memory is right Kjarl Grimblood maybe died in the Saga of the Beast supplement?

I agree we need to get an update to the great companies, hopefully that comes with the new primaris units.

Oh for real? I had no idea about Bloodhowl, that will need to be looked into. Saga of the Beast always feels like ancient history.

There was that novel around the start of 8th where they found some of them stuck in a rift on prospero. Although how canon that is is debatable and the message I took from it at the time was "buy large resin models lads"

I say this as a BL and SW stan but that novel was grox. Also the two Wulfen loadouts were hammers & shields or giant 2 handed swords

Hopefully they model the black carapace correctly this time. I can't look at the wulfen and not shudder.
