Where is/who has Sigismund's Sword?

Hello all, I couldn't find the answer to this question I had, I have been doing some research on Sigismund and things like that, I also happened to just build my first Emperors champion, and realized that Sigismund and the Emperors Champion both have the same sword, The black sword, and it also has the same markings, does the Emperors champion have Sigismund's sword?

There are multiple Black Swords, of which Sigismund has 1.

 

It was near the End and the Death, the later stages of the Siege of Terra.  Rogal Dorn was of course in charge of Terra's defense, things were getting pretty desperate.  Sigismund, being his 1st Captain, was being sent out when one of Malcador's agents approached him, with a gift: that Black Sword.

 

Malcador's agent told Sigismund to take it.  Sigismund's like no, I can't take this.  The agent said, Emperor's orders, so he took it.

 

So there are multiple Black Swords, they were all made around the same time since at least 30k, they were in a vault on Terra somewhere.  Is Sigismund's sword still around?  I think so, Sigismund died dueling Abaddon with it, but Abaddon returned his body AND his blade, as like an insult.

 

But is SIGISMUND's Black Sword still in service?  We can't say for sure.  You'd think it should be in a museum, but every one of them should be in a museum, they're these ancient blades that belonged to the Emperor himself or something.  Who knows?

Yeah what he said. I would imagine when Abaddon sent Sigismund's body and his sword back to Terra, his sword went to the Black Templars and they have it in stasis in the Eternal Crusader with other chapter relics?

 

I know the Black Templars had a set or limited number of black swords that were for the Emperor's Champions that arise among the chapter. How many? I don't know? But I thought I read somewhere that every crusade has one to give to their Emperor's Champion? In theory that doesn't make sense given how they now say there are many crusades going on at the same time, some large in number, some very very small? .../shrug

 

Edit: I'm just going to assume they were given 15? lol ... /shrug

there are 10 black swords. One of them is the original. As I heared (not certain) the Black Sword of the Helsreach crusade was the original sword of Sigismund. But too much sources tell too much different things. 

 

And yes. Sigismund was the first Emperors champion. This title was given by the Emperor himself,... funny because the rest of the imperium tells the story that Dorn made him the EC while in new novels it stated the Emperor himself had chosen Sigismund - and the Templars knows this fact still and this is why they dont care about any other opinion.

No, there can never be more than 10(?) Emperor's Champions at one time. It's not just the sword. It's the armor and the Emperor choosing to gift a brother with some kind of vision or something.

not all Crusades have a EC. I think the Emperor just give visions to them who are in more important crusades

 

but we dont know how GW sees this. They changed the lore very often. One time it was stated there is only one EC and that we see Astropaths as holy - the new novels shows VERY VERY different picture here. So maybe we can produce Black Swords now (and why not).

Yeah I read Broken Crusade and I didn't care for how they showed that change towards Astropaths! ... overall wasn't a big fan of that novel, but that's a story for another post.
