Wormwoods
I'm about to come into possession of some second-hand Hammerhead gunships. One is unpainted, the other was painted a decade ago by someone still learning, though me being me, I would need to repaint it in my style anyway. The thing is, I've never stripped a tank before! I've only really done old metal models in a jar, and am unsure how best to go about getting the acrylic off a plastic tank for which I have no jars! So, would love some guidance. Anyone dome something similar? Have any tips or tricks for cleaning up something that size without melting it down completely? Solution Firedrake Cordova Posted Saturday at 08:13 AM Solution Share Posted Saturday at 08:13 AM (edited) Isopropyl alcohol applied with a toothbrush is the bane of acrylic paint on plastic models, although you probably want to do it in a sink as it can get quite messy. I'd probably recommend starting with an obscure bit on the underside, just in case they've used something odd which reacts badly. Biostrip 20 works well, but you'd basically be dunking part of the tank into the pot, stripping it, and then dunking another part due to the size of the thing.
