Question for those who've poked around the leaks:

During the big reveal, IIRC one of the presenters mentioned something that could have been taken as Fire Dragons being able to equip Flamers broadly. (Something like "...they can all take Flamers..." where the "they" could have been referring to "Fire Dragon Exarchs" - which would have been weird to note - or could have been "Fire Dragons".)

So... how'd that turn out?

Incorrect. Yeah, it's still just the Exarch.

Newest WarCom post has them talking about the Aspect Shrine and Pheonix Lord results (plus new Spider Elf) and in it they pretty blatantly say that the Dragonbreath Flamer is a special weapon for the Fire Dragons Exarch.

9 pages wow. was there any talk of a wraith host or something?

There's a detachment for buffing them, but more importantly Wraithguard are just nuts. Falling back and shooting on that unit makes it so you have zero incentive to be careful with them.

thank you, I started to look at them. I will have to see what others do with army lists of them but they look promising.

Wraith Hosts look promising as Wraith units gain Battle Focus (an ability they don't normally have) which overcomes their lower movement rate. Both Wraithguard and Wraithlords have lost a point of toughness compared to their Index versions but are still T6 and T10 respectively making them comparable to Gravis units and SM Dreadnoughts.

Spiritseer now work like Techamarines and can buff/heal any nearby Wraith unit. This is great as you no longer need 1 per squad. I am not so keen on the whole token mechanics but this seems to be a feature of all the Detachments. You need to manage:

  • Battle Focus tokens
  • Vengeful Dead tokens
  • Spirit Mark tokens
  • Shrine tokens (if you have brought any Aspect Warriors along)

This is a lot of administration and I can't help but feel it will slow the game down.

Yep, was so happy when 10th came along and they said they were streamlining it, and it's all slowly come back.

All the 'You may do X when unit Y was targeted and is within Z distance of a W and it gives you plus A to action B when using C' stratagems are a bit much too.

I really need to find some people to give some one-page-rules a try.

Its not really any more than Imperial Guard players have been dealing with for the entire edition as well as any edition before hand.

I am sure Elf players will be fine remembering that they are faster than everyone else.

I ordered elsewhere Lyhkhis but I was looking now on the warhammer page preorder and her and many more aeldari minis ,baharrot, fuegan, autarch, jain zar and avatar just to name a few, are temporarily out of stock.

How can they be out of stock, even the new ones? FOMO inducing tactics?

Or the just did sell so well?

I find it a bit odd.

Scalpers.

Low production numbers is my guess.

It's gonna be fun waiting months to buy my faction's new stuff because some rogue with 12 PCs snaps up the entire production run and tries to sell them back to us at a 300% markup...

even the lgs sells out. not from scalpers but gw just doesn't send them as much as they would like. kreig sold out in 20min. lol both french and english versions. couldn't get either.

Where are you located? Looking at Canada, US, UK, AUS and 'rest of EUR',all pre-orders are available...

Here in Canada many of the older kits are 'temporarily unavailable', but I don't think that's scalpers so much as general supply lag and some reboxing.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

Locally all the Phoenix lords sold out in minutes. (except Asurman, there is 1 left)

The Fire dragons sold out.

You can still get spiders and swooping hawks.

and no one seems interested in reboxing of warwalkers / falcon kit.

You can also get the codex in French and English but English is almost gone.

I don't know how much they got of each sadly, but the owner said (i know he said she said) that GW production hasn't been as strong so far this year. They did not get much Krieg for example.

I'm in Italy but it's the same for me if I'm looking at the uk or rest of the europe location. Weird that you see them available.

I got what I need from a LGS, I'm not worried.

I was just wandering since other than the codex these are not limited editions and they are sold out for now.

The more I look at, the more I like that combat patrol as a possible side project one day....

.....But yeesh! how much is a codex ? particularly one with what I assume is just a fancy cover. I think it every time I consider a faction and it puts me off actually buying this every time.

I think I'll end up sticking to just painting/collecting the models I like the look of. Makes me a lot less likely to build a full army for a faction with a £40ish tax on the rules/background

Good to know. It does seem to be country-specific, as everything is still available for pre-order here in Canada.

It's somewhat surprising if it is largely scalpers responsible for sellouts in the preorder window as basically none of these things are limited release like launch boxes or whatever.

Glad you got what you were hoping for at any rate!

As of 7pm (Seattle, WA time) in the US -- three of the pre-order items are showing as not being in stock -- Fuegon and Fire Dragons (temporarily out of stock) and the Collector's Edition of the Codex (sold out online)

Cool, yea, I appreciate that as the first day went on, some things have indeed sold out in some countries.

Some of the earlier concern posts also seemed to be focused on availability in LGSs, which will always be a craps shoot, it seems. Some of them may take pre-orders before the official Saturday announce/launch, which means it's not a bad idea to ask them to get you on their list before they even find out what their allocation will be.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.
