I think it’s a nice box but I’m sorry to see the jetbike one go as the value was epic. If you can get both boxes though they complement each other nicely as there are no repeats, and you have a nice balance of infantry, elites and firepower.

interesting....

Eldar are one of the armies i've always liked but never really got very far with.

I have a few metal models knocking around plus a random getting started type box (one of the old £40 boxes with war walkers, guardians and a tank i think) and some dire avengers.  Most of that is on sprues still.

I've been eying up the combat patrol magazine eldar options for wraithguard/lord models....
if this new combat patrol is true it does complement the current one fairly well. I might consider getting the current one before it goes out of stock and then just grabbing 1 or 2 wraithlords / wraithguard issues. If the old models still fit in well then that should give m a decent

We've seen the pictures, it's definitely true!

They are an older kit but I wouldn't say they’re old scale though. I’d argue all they need is a new mould.

And tactical rocks... definitely Aeldari tactical rocks!

Really all they need to be set for a good while is Ynnari heads.

Pass from me, I have enough of all of these, only really want the spiders.

Though if Avengers go up to the new normal of £40/5 aspect warriors, that's ~£180 worth of stuff in that for hopefully £100, so not bad.

Also, Avengers are pretty much 20 years old this year, a testament to Eldar model design that they are perfectly in place with new kits.

Looking at the new rules, I can see Dire Avengers being a popular choice for line infantry. Fortunately I already have 20 from when GW were still selling them in boxes of 10 so I am OK. I also have some Wraithguard coming from the Combat Patrol magazine.

pity they getting rid of the old one two, because the two together looks like a great way to start an Eldar army and get a reasonably cheap 1000pts.

The old one is just beginning its run in the Hachette Combat Patrol part work.

Jump on the Combat Patrol mags and it's potentially even cheaper to put that combo together. It's a tempting prospect.

the thing Ynnari need most is a cadianstyle upgrade sprue filled with bare heads to cover those that do not have it (and prevent me scouring the internet for some particular heads I want XD), maybe some Standard bearer arm with variation icons targetted at Kabalites/Wyches and Guardians to make the allegiance stand out more, some basing-corpses and arms with soul(stone) shenanigans going on, probably a gyrinx, then some spare soulstones to hang on hips etc. Huskblade, backpack and blast pistol to make an Archon from the Autarch kit could fill it up. More scyth like executioner arm ( Succubus, Banshee exarch, Autarch )

it could really give a simple but stronger identity in presentation ( beyond people's conversions.) than just eldar-soup

I kitbashed Dire Avengers with the new Guardian kit. IMO their age and squatting stance is quite noticeable next to the new minis.

This is what will keep me from picking up this box if I was going to start and Eldar army. I don't think the Dire Avengers look too bad on their own, when they were released I thought they looked fantastic, but next to the new stuff I'm not sure they quite cut it. Everything else in the box is must have.

wonder if I need spiders or dire avengers for the spirit detachement

Both units are shred lighter infantry pretty cost effectively, something that Wraith units are not so hot on. I would probably opt for Spiders as they bring greater mobility.
