Grotsmasha
So I've been doing a tidy up of my hobby space, and this way way at the bottom of my hitz box and I have NO CLUE where / when I acquired this model, so anyone recognise it? Is it 3rd party? Official GW? Would love to know. Cheers in advance INKS 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385168-help-identifying-a-model-some-kind-of-old-custodes/ Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
AFTER a bit of sleuthing, I've managed to answer my own question, curtesy of a reverse image search and Chunky_Monkey4491 on Reddit, Quote Chunky_Monkey4491 •1y ago These were made by a guy called Velard miniatures. They were the highly desired 3rd party custodes of the day during the HH art book. In between the days of the HH card game launch and before the first HH novels were made. The models were a very limited casting because the maker got hit with a C&D, and at the time it could cost you up to £200 for 10. The one without the helmet is supposed to be Constantine Valdor. Always wanted some as a kid, I used to be one of those guys buying all sorts of kits to make art accurate custodian guard. Completely unobtainable now unless you're selling them on Ebay. These days while rare and OOP I am not sure what they'd go for as a non official model when actual Custodes are here now. You'd have to find a real collector. He also used to do a bunch of the Primarchs among other HH stuff way before GW even considered a miniature range and we would use a mish-mash of old kits, Chaos marines de-trimmed and older mark bitz to make our own 30k marines. Evil Eye
That is an awesome sculpt, would fit right in with official GW minis; might be a bit small next to modern Custodes admittedly, but the overall style is spot-on, and next to Middlehammer era models it'd fit right in. Honestly, even as someone that doesn't like the reappearance of Custodes in "present day" 40K, I'm a bit sad we never got any official Custodes models from that era; I love metal minis in general but the late 3rd through to 5th era of metal sculpts were absolutely fantastic. Felix Antipodes
At that size you might consider making him a Lord Inquisitor with that fancy armour … N1SB and ZeroWolf 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385168-help-identifying-a-model-some-kind-of-old-custodes/#findComment-6090546 Share on other sites
