Unknown Blue
I'm building two more baneblade(shadow sword+storm lord), want to customize them a bit so I'm trying to use the different cool markings on the transfer(as circled in the pic.) However, I can't get any clue what these different markings mean, different regimets? special units? does one need to pair with another unique marking? I tried searching and even read some imperial armour book but still nothing, anyone can help me identify the meaning of these different markings pls? thnx Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385177-baneblade-transfer-markings/ Share on other sites
Ramell
The V with the skull is a Vostroyan regimental marking. The rest I believe are just meant to be used as more generic unit markings or campaign badges, however you see fit. At least any specific association doesn't spring to mind immediately. Dr_Ruminahui
I think they typically come in pairs so that you can have one on either side of the hull or turret - so, for symetry. apologist and Firedrake Cordova 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385177-baneblade-transfer-markings/#findComment-6090695 Share on other sites
Grotsmasha
Historically, they're Campaign Badges, a way to show varied history of your machines. However, you can use them however you feel, unit bagses, company badges, whatever you want apologist and Firedrake Cordova 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385177-baneblade-transfer-markings/#findComment-6090698 Share on other sites
apologist
Besides a very brief period where each Imperial vehicle had its own icon (so brief that it was only mentioned in a single article about Predators* and then swiftly ignored), guidance on markings has been minimal. There are some that are associated with particular Regiments, like the V for Vostroya, as @Ramell points out, or the Cadian gate, but even these can easily be used as honorifics that record a particular campaign with (or against!) that Regiment etc. In short, you're very free to do what you like with them, and the transfer sheet can be used exactly as your Regiment wants to use it. In fact, this is built into the background for the Codex Astartes and how the Guard use it: White Dwarf issue 143 On the specifics of Baneblades, while very old, this info might be helpful to give you a starting point: ... and more generally on company, squadron and army markings: * They used a toothed lightning bolt, for the record.
