He manages to make the Mk 7 helmets look so menacing in a way I never found them to be with the miniatures/lots of the artwork.

Given the sheer scope of the trailer this must be quite a long animation, unless it's just a quick-cut montage of different action sequences (which it might well be)

You know, funnily enough, my takeaway from this is that I forgot that Retributors are officially canon now (which I imagine they have been since GW claimed Astartes).

Congrats to the Fists for getting their (arguably cooler) Raptor-Successors! It would be interesting if they start showing up elsewhere.

The Chapter choices are also pretty awesome across the board, this is looking promising for the possible character-dynamics.

We got two cannibals (one of which is a barbarian and the other is artistic), a hyper-logical angry man, a normal marine (sorry Scythes) and lastly a guy from a reasonably professional chapter. This could be hilarious.

I put my money on the Scythe being the sergeant from the extra drip in his clip with the cloak.

Grav tanks can't crush the corpses of the enemies because they don't have treads and that's why they suck. Retro military aesthetic is one of the reason that made Imperial Guards and Space Marines vehicles freaking awesome.

The Primaris vehicles are kept aloft by brute force and they do crush everything beneath them. They are even more brutal than using tank treads because you get to see everything get splattered underneath them.

In the novels there are moments, such as when an iron warrior dives underneath a Repulsor, only to be turned into a red smear beneath the gravitic field.

1. The metaplot sucks.

2. The Primaris vehicles are hideous.

3. Meaningless, there are the Marines of the game, and Marines of the Lore. This looks like its more Marines of the Lore. Its the Hollywood style Marines from many many many years ago.

Primaris are objectively more boring than the various styles of the pre-Primaris Marines.

Ultimately, GW has a back catalog of content, of eras, of styles, which dwarfs the lame 'current' by 10000's to 1. To leverage that makes the most sense.

Please show the objective measurement of boringness used to make this claim…

it’s been like 8 years…can you brush that chip off your shoulder already?

8 years is nothing to hold a grudge within this fandom. Rookie numbers.

You’re right I’m still mad the sanguinor, astorath, and the sanguinary guard exist.

Regularly scheduled reminder the most memes in this fandom, specifically those shown ad nauseam to new fans, are primarily derived from a nearly 17 year old book.

For reference, 5 Edition Space Marines can legally drive in most countries, is a year away from voting by the standards of many democratic nations and is nearly of age to attend post-secondary education.

Or, more bluntly, it is a bit over three years short of a generation by the traditional measure.

That's right fraters, our fandom is quite literally inflicting generational trauma on newcomers!

On a more serious note, I really hope the series has a BAngel falling to the Black Rage or suffering from the Red Thirst. Just because I would laugh my rear off to see the Mortifactor get the Uzas treatment!

Back on topic, took some screenshots, but they're too huge, so here's a link.

And some of them did manage to stay under the file size limit.

I forgot that BnC does like to compress these quite a bit, the link should have better resolutions.

Actually, according to the accompanying article, this footage isn't even from the show itself. This is just introducing the characters. The actual show is about these guys in the Deathwatch. If this footage is reused, it'll be flashback footage at the very beginning.

I absolutely love this guy's style, coming at you like the random corridor-monster from Hellraiser.

Astartes project continues to look great, even in full sunshine. Thanks for the album.

Syama Pederson has rebranded his YouTube channel (Digital Bones) and uploaded two new videos - one is the Astartes 2 teaser and the other is a showreel of his personal and professional work.

Watching the showreel, I could be wrong, but there might be some more 40K stuff we haven't seen before? Has he done Grey Knights before?

Oh no way! Wasn't some of this footage already at the end of Astartes? Back when it was on YouTube anyway?

Edit: I thought I'd seen the Ork fight footage before, but I must be going mad, ignore me!

Some of this footage was previously locked behind Syama's Patreon and uploaded without his consent on Youtube - it's been a while since I watched the original Astartes, however there may have been a sizzle reel including some of it on there.

Astartes 2 doesn't being Deathwatch based doesn't necessarily mean MkX armoured chaps.

I don't think anyone is expecting that?

To be fair, I think some people are either expecting it, or at least bracing for it: some folks want Primaris, and some want Firstborn - those who want Primaris hope for MkX; those who want Firstborn at least acknowledge the chance that GW pushes for more Firstborn erasure and does a rugpull with all of the characters becoming Primaris.

No confirmation either way, but it's always a possibility.

I'm pretty sure the ork fight is a reuse. It was originally a Lamenter I believe tho.

Love how he designs the plasma weapons on the marines, the speed of the marines with jump packs looks exceptional in this animation, so swift and fast.

Design of the Orcs is great too, and that scenes of tanks on a highway firing at Tyranids too, and those Tyranids at full speed looked great.

Also nice shot of the dreadnought, looked very real.

The Squad expressed in Tropes:

SoE (Sarge): "I LOVE the marine corps!"

SoM (The Engineer): "We need three melta bombs to breach this bunker. Apply the charges here, there and over there."

BA (Humble Hero): "I am the least talented of all of my brethren."

R (The Professional): "The target is in my sights."

M (The Savage): "Enough talk. Lets rip them apart. FOR THE EMPEROR!"
