Dr. Clock
For lulz yesterday I ended up taking a Librarius Conclave to field... all the Librarians in my collection in a 'Post-Badab Librarian Brofest' combining Salamanders, Lamenters, and some Deathwatch (specifically, a Corvus + 10 DW Vets and their Librarian Jensus Natorian!). I noticed when reviewing the detachment that an enhancement allows the bearer's unit's ranged weapons to gain Anti-Vehicle/Monster 5+, so I slapped that on a unit of Sternguard with half bolters and half combis. The results were pretty dang nifty! The Sternguard didn't get to shoot any vehicles or monsters in the end, instead being satisfied with wrecking 5 Legionaries and then pitching in against Possessed and then just hiding in scoring position... But they did score me like 12 points by turn 3 when opponent conceded. The re-roll hits and wounds of 1 Discipline was plenty impactful on its own for DW Vets and Terminators though, and I found myself enjoying it just as much if not more than the actual DW detachment. Anyway - just thought I'd share this exploit for consideration of those who might enjoy the 'bolters but Devastating' vibe to make use of their combi-weapon or bolter bearers instead of ripping their arms off for heavy bolters and hammers lol. I was toying with a Libby to give sternguard the 4++ even before the Index, and it's not a bad way to protect DW Vets either if you can't otherwise afford a Watchmaster... Also FTR I didn't hate adding a proper psychic attack to each of those units - in a few cases the Libby put the final/critical wounds on things in shooting. Interested to hear any good experiences or preferences for detachment picks outside the usual for flavorsome DW lists. Cheers, The Good Doctor.
