Independent Stockists Hobbycraft now selling Warhammer

To be fair, Hobbycraft stocking Warhammer products is probably more aimed at the luring people into the hobby rather than us entrenched hobbyists, other than convienences of essentials. 

 

Maybe next they'll have guys in trench coats standing on street corners peddling primaris boxes and pots of nuln oil.

I eat/drink paint every time I touch a miniature and it hasn't affected me one bit.

Popped into my local Hobbycraft today, and I think it says a lot about my area but this was what my shops Warhammer section looked like:

This forum needs some kind of 'shocked' or 'horrified' reaction for posts 

 

I wonder how many thefts are people feeding their own hobby addiction, or because they know they can sell these for a few quid?

I think some of it is definitely the latter but I remember the reason why the Middlesbrough GW stopped using their back room for gaming (the back door led to an easily accessible alley, and to a door that led upstairs to the stock room. This door was never secured) so the former also wouldn't surprise me.

I see that Sports Direct are also selling Warhammer stuff too. I saw an advert on instagram saying it was 70% off but it wasn’t.

I think SD own GAME that used to sell Warhammer - since GAME stores have closed and move inside sports direct or other shops, maybe it's just that old stock they're trying to offload?

Interesting - I may have to swing in SD on my lunch time walk and see if they have anything on offer - I very much doubt it

It probably said "Up to 70% off". 

 

Sports Direct love using the "Up to" liberally.

 

I could see them selling Warhammer tbf, harder to smuggle out than a shirt etc (I worked for them 18 years ago and the searches on leaving the premises always felt ridiculous, then again, I'm not a thief).

This is financially dangerous for me, not only do I live a stone's throw away from a large HobbyCraft, my wife is a full member of Cult of Craft, so my wallet is likely in for a rough time. I like how they have been slowly adding to their wargaming stock over the last couple of years, my local store started adding terrain pieces and some decent tools so hopefully they have some 40K in... it'd be rude not to take a walk over there right? For research purposes of course.

I live in the UK and I hate the Sports Direct/GAME Merger.

 

For the record, my town had multiple video gaming related stores, and predictably they have all gone under.

 

I saw a billboard in my town saying that GAME was returning to the city centre, and it turned out to be a single wall of popular games at the back of a Sports Direct.

 

And yes, GAME stores did indeed sell warhammer.

Thankfully, within walking distance of my house there are multiple hobby stores.

I am getting a Hive tyrant for my birthday so this might be a good discount though they dont have the other bits I will also be getting so it may come down to stock

Recent trip to Hobbycraft. Clearly theft is an issue round my way too: the boxes are all empty and just for show! I only brought a brush (we give GW hassle for their markup but there were no sable hobbycraft alternatives for a sensible price with the little protector for the bristles), might go back for a box with the code.
