Subject says it all. I've only been playing 1k games and we've been running the generic scenario setup in the core rules (4 objectives, etc). Can I use the Leviathan, or Pariah Nexus mission card pack for 1k games, or is it only for 2k games?

Thanks.

Edit: Also I only have the Leviathan deck. I heard that the Pariah Nexus deck is better because it puts more emphasis on battle line units? But the PN deck is currently sold out via GW.  Would you just use the Leviathan mission deck, pick up the Pariah Nexus deck via other sources ($46 on eBay for example), or wait for the new deck to come out? Again, thanks.

From what I know, you can use the Leviathan deck for both 1k and 2k, I have never used them myself, but I heard something a while ago saying you can use it for both. I have no idea about the Pariah Nexus deck and no nothing about it.

I've used the Leviathan ones in 1000 point games, and they work fine.  The only "issues" with using lower points values is that with less resources, you have have less units that can potentially score or do actions, and actions that give up your shooting are likely to be a greater sacrifice in terms of the proportion of your force's potency.  That said, while you have less units to score, your opponent likewise has less units to block you with, and the the action economy issue is one that already plays out between small, elite forces and horde armies, regardless of the point size.

That said, I haven't observed any real difference in terms of game enjoyment between 2000, 1500 and 1000 point games with the Leviathan objectives - at each game size, I really like them and find them better than any of the other mission and victory point systems I have played with in 40K since 3rd edition.  So safe to say I'm a fan.

Haven't played the Pariah objectives, or even seen them - I've wanted to pick up a pack for my friend to use when playing with his son, but I never seem able to find them in stock either in store or online.  So I can't comment on the Pariah cards other than to note that you might feel even more constrained at lower point values if battleline is key for scoring, as it may be harder in some armies than others to have a viable list with enough battleline units at 1000 points.

I have played the Pariah Nexus missions at 1K and I can confirm that they work just fine. While spending points on action monkeys is tricky at lower points values, it affects both players equally so it is still balanced.

Thanks for the reply! Did you also use the Leviathan card deck? And if so which one did you prefer?

I have the Leviathan Deck, and if I can avoid shelling out $45 USD on eBay for the Pariah Nexus deck I'd like to, but if it's significantly better then I would.

Thanks Karhedron.

There's a few apps that have the newer missions in them, including the tabletop battles app which will also note your scoring.

I have used both. I prefer Pariah Nexus but the Leviathan one is fine.

The official GW one?

I'm unfamiliar with these apps except Battlescribe. Does it now have them on it?

No, the GW app does not have mission functionality.  The all is called Tabletop Battles.

Do you recommend it? I just briefly looked over their website and it appeared to offer a lot of cool abilities for a 40k player?

I think Tabletop Battles is pretty slick. GW cracked down on them a little bit as it used to offer even more functionality, but I think it's great for keeping up scoring and for managing the minutiae of a match.

It also reminds you to take pictures which I find the most helpful lol

Mission packs are perfectly fine for 1k. Personally I find 2k games too long and convoluted. I enjoy the game more at smaller levels with fewer complex interactions.

Agreed! That has been my experience with gams in 10th edition. We have yet to play a 2k game. I'm curious which deck is better suited for 1k Incursion games? Karhedron prefer Pariah Nexus and I value his insight, but just looking for more feedback.
