This thread is for the discussion of Rumours regarding a potential Second Wave and New Characters for Codex: Space Marines.

As of right now, the following Rumours have been heard:

  • New Imperial Fists character, supposedly Primaris Lysander.
  • New Salamanders character, supposedly Primaris Vulkan He'stan.
  • New Iron Hands character, supposedly in Terminator armour.
  • New White Scars character, supposedly on a Jetbike.
  • New Ravenguard character (Not much else rumoured about this one.
  • Updated "Multipart" Outriders
  • Updated Assault Terminators
  • Updated Vanguard Veterans
  • New Land Speeder
  • New Drop Pod

Additionally, there are rumours of GW making models in other/"classic" Armour Marks, however I am unsure as to whether those rumours relate to the above or if they are related to some other topic.

Also, can I please request that we do not derail this thread hard enough to get banished to the Astartes subform? Thanks.

If you are aware of any other related rumours that I have missed or you have a correction/update to a rumour mentioned above, please post them below.

Iron Warriors and Iron Hands are too easy to mix up

That sounds like an overall decent release. For the Drop Pod, I think we might need more clarity if it's for 30k or 40k (although probably for 40k), as the current one doesn't actually match the loadouts for 30k.

As for other armor marks, that could be for 30k as well, although I don't have the context on this one. Otherwise, I'd be totally fine with Primaris scaled MK VII/MK VIII, or even MK X that mixes in some bits more than helmets from other prior armor marks. I think especially for a chapter based in Imperium Nihilus, that would provide a lot of opportunity for some visual storytelling due to their lack of resources and the overall bad situation there.

Again, it's all rumors, but many have been relatively accurate there, but sometimes there's details that are missing context.

I'm totally up for a new drop pod, although would be keen for CSM to get one too. With the caveat that it's just a nicer build, rather than a redesign.

Worried for ever more datasheet bloat though.

If I recall Valrak's video the other day, it could be more like they're mixed in like the Sternguard, like if they made new Intercessors, there may be a MK VI breastplate, a MK 7 helmet etc.

I think that's the ideal solution in general. Work some older marks back in here and there at Primaris Scale, and don't make a big deal about it.

I find myself unsure if we'll get a multipart bike squad. It's a modern marine kit, I don't know if it's long enough in the tooth for a replacement just yet.

Does the drop pod really need an update? What can be done to it? Smaller footprint? Slightly flatter or cleaner panels?

Smaller footprint:laugh:

I would imagine the new one would be at least 1/3 bigger:tongue:

In case anyone is wondering why I haven't specified Valrak in the title or main post, it's because this thread is for any rumours about this potential 2nd wave/new characters, not just Valraks.

While as of yet these rumours are all from Valrak, I didn't want to exclude any that may emerge from another source layer down the line.

Honestly I can really see some unit with armour mixed for 11th edition which would replace both Primaris Intercessor and Tactical squad (for example) in one unit.

And honestly I have very strong suspicions we will see armour mixed with the space wolves release. If we can trust the rumours we will have new grey hunters and new blood claws in Primaris size. I'm suspecting it will have exactly the same logic but for the SW.

Now that primaris lore is an advancing timeline. This dead mans shoes of chapter masters is starting to look more and more ridiculous. Maybe some new characters, new chapter direction etc.

I’d missed the Landspeeder rumour. What’s the deal there? Remaking the current one to be more ‘Primaris-y’?

Valraks speculation was that it was a modern replacement for the land speeder storm. At least I think it was speculation on his part rather than a rumour he had heard specifically about it being scout-related.

I personally hope we don’t see a new drop pod - I don’t really see how much they could change to the classic model to warrant the significant price rise that’s sure to come. If this turned out to actually be a heresy dreadclaw on the other hand…..

It could also use a retool to make it fit together better.

i always found quite enjoyable to build, the little nubs with panels ontop where all the fins attach, make it quite easy to line up. Only proplem is if you like interior in it, i´ve built two with harness and one like old dreadnought pod. But if pod is getting an update, i can only shiver about the cost and size of it.

This is how I feel. At the end of the day, it's a drop pod, there's not much it has to do. I can see arguments for more separate drop pod models such as plastic Deathstorm/Deathwind (the ones filled with auto-turrets) or Dreadnought-sized ones, but as far as standard Marine drop pods go, the current one is fine. A Dreadclaw would be nice, as would a plastic version of the now ancient and farcically rare "40K era" Chaos Dreadclaw (seriously, even Forge World Russian Divisions don't tend to have it), so that is definitely something I'd welcome.
