The 5 Infernus marines and the sargeant from the combat patrol magazine, plus a little bashing.

A lot more chopping than I expected just to make bits from the salamander upgrade kit work.

Chainsword cut from one of my sons chaos kits. Not codex approved but I think it's style works with a flame effect. Which I'm still trying to get the hang of.

Its not clear in the pictures but i tried using some light contrast blue over the top of the ventilator shroud on the flamer units. I was going for a heat treated patina. Something I'll keep practicing.

Transfers, bases, shoulder detail and some fine detail still to do.

Not happy with the helmets. Might need a do over.

I'd say if there's a stereotypical unit for sallies it's these guys.

Love the colour scheme.

I can see where you're coming from regarding the helmets., But yellow is such a pein in the b*tt to paint.

I found multiple drybrushes over a basecoat of xv something to be most effective.

But, nice mini's!!

There's a couple of ways of making yellow less annoying - mixing in another darker paint that covers better for the first basecoat, e.g. a tan (this has the bonus of also being able to be used to establish recess shadows), or using Imperial Fist Contrast over white to give you a yellow base to paint your desired yellow over (Imperial Fist gives a relatively flat yellow with little "contrast effect" whilst having relatively high pigment levels).

I do something similar, though I use brown, as my base, working up to yellow

Better angle pictures.

I like the suggestion to dry brush the helmets and starting with a tan or dull yellow base using a contrast. Not sure why I didnt.

I need get some  finer brushes before I do lenses again.
