Evil Eye
The return of the (Chaos) Dreadclaw would be awesome. The old FW one is as rare as rocking-horse dung, which is a shame as it's a great design. Nephaston
I believe this, because it sounds like something I would want. Marshal Loss
I think it's far more likely that this is just artistic license on display, but you never know. I'd certainly love to see a plastic Dreadclaw. AutumnEffect
Color me intrigued. The drop pod is based on the original Dreadclaw that's been extinct for a long time now. I imagine most people, myself included, think of the Anvillus pattern Dreadclaw now when they think of the pod. If GW were to do a plastic drop pod for 40k, I think the 'original' model would be a great choice. It would fit their paradigm of separating 30k and 40k and would fit into the 40k Chaos range really well. It would also dovetail nicely if there is a new loyalist pod like there are rumors of. Hungry Nostraman Lizard
A drop pod with rules might make me try 40k again. I remember back in mid 8th, when I was still actively partaking in 40k, I was trying desperately to play a fragment of the Legion without any of the overtly chaos stuff, lots of proxies and so that the army could function in 30k/40k. I remember having bought two of the dreadclaw kits and damn near losing my mind putting them together. Transporting them was annoying, but it was fun to show up loyalists with drop pod-ing in. By then, a lot of marine armies were already parasitically taken over by the primaris bug, and I remember a few marine players I played at my local GW loved the drop pod gimmick so much and were surprised that loyalists had them. I kindly pointed out that they had access to them much easier and if they didn't use primaris, well... a lot could be dropped in! I like to think that I may have contributed to a drop pod sale or two back then, hah. I'm tentatively excited for new raptors - the current ones that replaced the 4th ed ones never sat right with me. GW hadn't quite mastered dynamic posing yet, and had become obsessed with the trim at the time, a-la the flying turkey known as the heldrake, raptors, and to a degree, the maulerfiend/forgefiend kit. If they're more like the revamped CSM marines, then shaving off the more egregiously chaos bits would be easy to cannibalize for HH! Iron Father Ferrum
I've been expecting another transport option for CSM for at least a decade, but I figured it'd be a ground vehicle rather than a drop pod. If true I think it will be a popular choice of Legionaries; Chosen don't particularly need a deep-striking transport since they can advance & charge, and loyalist pods can't carry their T6/3W (aka Gravis) infantry options so I assume this wouldn't carry Possessed either. In any case, I probably won't need one because I play Deceptors and thus most of infantry Infiltrate already, but it's still a good, flexible option for the codex. Borbarad
I don’t like that at all; mainly because my retirement plans hinge on my rare FW resin dread claw going up in price Sarges, RolandTHTG, Dark Shepherd and 8 others 10 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385289-tinfoil-hat-from-tabletop-tactics/#findComment-6094112 Share on other sites
Xenith
GW very rarely does art or rules without models these days, and GW has already confirmed a plastic dreadclaw for HH will be released, so a chaos upgrade would make sense! I'd like to see them do chaos upgrades for some of the 30k vehicles in general (rhino, etc.). I've definitely been using some extra bits for the current upgrade to chaos up some myself. Prot
I'd love this. The whole premise matches a 'fast attack' release I've been pondering. Coinciding with the rumours of another loyal Primarch, and even marine characters, AND Night Lords. This all falls into the fast attack (excuse the 3rd edition colloquialism.) This is with my White Scars fanboy hat on, but this would involve the eventual return of the Khan for 10.5/11th edition. I don't think it will happen because it won't generate enough revenue, but fast attack/Armageddeon/new bikes/drop pods/Vangaurd Vets/ it all starts on the path of hoping for scars. I never did sell that army. I had a blast with it until Death Guard made it moot to exist and then 10th killed it. Still one of my favourite armies to play of all time. I admit though, the Khan does not hold mass appeal like Russ, or even Dorn. But his specialization really does fall in line with these theories. Night Lords used to be incredibly popular, and the Chaos line is woefully dated in bikes/jump packs and fast attack over all. And a Dreadclaw? Heck yea. I could never afford one of these as they were always paywalled behind Forgeworld back in the day. The only issue is the ruleset. It would change everything... dramatically. If they worked like they used to, essentially all my marine armies had 3. It was THE way of coming to grips in CC or short ranged firepower. It's a different game now but I think this would dramatically change everything, especially on our smaller tables. And on a side note: Scatter dice? Wow. Who wants this back? What next, flamer templates? Ordnance? How far are we turning back the clock?
