I made a similar post in the DA forum, but I thought what the heck, maybe it's of interest to some Chaos players as well...

I grabbed this from a Valrak video on youtube. Basically I just wanted to let you folks know that it looks like a lot of CSM will be heavily featured in the upcoming Crusade book.

You can see below it's a lot of Night Lords, World Eaters, Black Legion (Harkaan).... lots of legions involved.

The start of Vigilus/Nachmund Gauntlet was quite a while ago if you remember (we saw some phobos, venomcrawlers, etc.) The storyline was great. Chaos was a bit of a joke, but this is apparently quite different.

I'm not going to give any spoilers here, there's a lot out there right now. But it looks to be a really cool continuation of something pretty interesting. If you recall the Nachmund Gauntlet is really a choke point between the chaos controlled space and the Imperium.

This is where we might see the coming of drop pods/dreadclaws... you never know.

But anyway, me and my friends usually play a loose version of the campaign. (Just a little more competitive.) I hope you guys end up having a look at it. It can give your groups a shot in the arm.

You can see the basic armies included from the GW Community page:

Now I have to figure out if I'm Black Legion/World Eaters OR Dark Angels for this little shindig.

Yeah, its cool to see so many chaos elements on the new campaign - I always like seeing the individual host names, as I feel that's part of 40K that kind of gets glossed over much of the time with the emphasis on the legions, that the legions aren't monolithic structures but are made up of warbands of various sizes, identities, histories and loyalties.

Chaos drop pods would be great, but I'm not holding my breath.

As for factions, you should definitely go chaos over dark angels.  As for World Eaters over Black Legion, maybe the former as haven't you already painted a bazillion Black Legion armies?

The last time GW did this weekend campaign thing, I played as Black Legion and I won a Vigilus currency coin, and a debsed corrupt guardsman necklace tag. It was a really fun weekend. I had to bring my painted Guilliman for the  good guys, but I played Black Legion in part because they didn't have near enough 'bad guys'. So even at the end mega battle on Sunday I had several thousand points in Iron Warriors and Black Legion led by Abaddon (all chaos players had several thousand). And the loyalists could only bring about a thousand points each. I think there was about 10 of them and 5 of us.

I haven't played a weekend campaign at the store since Covid, but I'm tempted.

The fact this is taking place in the southern region of Nachmund is really interesting. I may have to pull out the World Eaters even though I've been on a huge DA painting spree. :)

I love how they listed the Alpha Legion presence as "presumed."  We are everywhere.

I read the entries yet somehow missed the 'presumed'. I love it.

How I wish they would come back to giving us real legion traits. I don't want to get too far off track but it's really hard to beat the old veteran skills system for Chaos. It truly was a unique time. If only we'd known it would never be back....

With Nachmund I still have a gut feeling this will lead into the finale of the edition with the typical surge of releases. This book though definitely has me writing up a home grown campaign I love to do with my consistent play group.

The 3.5 Chaos Codex remains the best way that Chaos has ever been done. The fact that they fit all 9 Legions + demons into a single book, and did so in a satisfying way, was absolute genius. It was a very different time, with the game run by very different kinds of people.

Things are much better now for Chaos than they were 4th - 7th, but it’s indeed kind of odd that the cult Legions each get their own book with multiple detachments, while the undivided Legions don’t even have legion traits anymore. The detachments, while clearly themed, are not Legion-exclusive in any way, with no specific Legion bonuses which opens up gameplay space but causes loss of flavor.
