Gorgoff
Sorry for the klickbaity Titel but I have a question and couldn't find the answer. I know this topic comes up on a daylight basis but I still have to ask: how can I summon Samus? As a bound demon any psyker can summon him, so far so easy. But as what is he bought in addition to my primary detachment? Is he an ally? And can an Esoterist summon him with his special ability? If so what is he then? Also an ally? And what about Ruinstorm Samus? The Esoterist rules only speak about that list as it seems so he can only summon them? And if so how does zhat work with Samus? He is a LOW after all. Unknown Legionnaire
Alright friend, here we go ... - Samus (Unbound), the one from the Ruinstorm Daemon Army List that is also a LoW selection is easy: You can only field him in an army that has Ruinstorm Daemons as its Primary Detachment, as (obviously) a Lord of War choice (Ruinstorm Daemons pdf page 2). He will be deployed on the battlefield at the start of the game. No other options possible. - Samus (Bound), oh boy, is a completely different pair of shoes (or rather daemonic claws). Samus (Bound) from the 'Burning of Ohmn-Mat' Bounds Daemons Army List can be added to your army as the HQ selection of your Bound Deamons Allied Detachment. So, you need at least Samus and one unit of daemon brutes for it to work in said Allied Detachment. His warlord trait enables him to be the warlord, even if he's not from your Primary Detachment, this is one of the rare instances where this is made possible, So, have fun filling your Primary Detachments HQ slots with 1-2 psykers, because ... - In order to deploy Bound Daemons onto the battlefield at the start of the game you need a psyker to pass a psychic check. - Bound Daemons suffer -1 STR / Tough when no friendly psykers are on the battlefield. - You are allowed to put the Bound Daemons units (including Samus) in reserves. If you do, you can bring them in by two different means: a.) passing a psychic check insted of a reserve roll to bring them on from conventional reserves, or ... b.) bring them onto the battlefield by 'summoning' them via an Esoterist's 'Breach the Veil' psychic power. This is allowed as per the 'Burning of Ohmn-Mat' pdf page 11 'Bound Malefica' Sorry, if this is quite complex, but this should pretty much cover 'the man beside you'.
