grailkeeper Posted yesterday at 12:12 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:12 PM Could be a kill team bit? I thought initially it might be AoS but the laser bit makes it look 40k. stretch_135 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385386-the-rumour-engine-25th-february-2025/#findComment-6096805 Share on other sites
CL_Mission Posted yesterday at 12:20 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:20 PM A cool looking bit whoever it's for. Kill team is a good shout, beyond that no idea besides being imperial or imperial adjacent. The tech could be for Votann but if it is Kill team I think we would have seen something like this in either of their previous teams. Cyrox Posted yesterday at 12:31 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:31 PM First thought was Votann, but the comment about Warhammer's premier culinarians makes me think Ratlings grailkeeper 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385386-the-rumour-engine-25th-february-2025/#findComment-6096811 Share on other sites

Perhaps this is more of a harpoon or these Ratling would be in Necromunda and have different tools/tech Cyrox 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385386-the-rumour-engine-25th-february-2025/#findComment-6096814 Share on other sites
Kharn13 Posted yesterday at 12:59 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:59 PM My guess would be for the rumoured WE kill team. Grapple like in SM2? Upgrade sprue for zerkers? It could be something they'd use not just for scaling buildings, but I can see them using it to skewer a target and pull their victim in to combat Having said that, this does look a bit 'clean' and maybe not brutal enough for WE zulu.tango 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385386-the-rumour-engine-25th-february-2025/#findComment-6096825 Share on other sites
grailkeeper Posted yesterday at 02:35 PM Share Posted yesterday at 02:35 PM the other ratling grappling hook is identical to the kill team one. jaxom Posted yesterday at 03:15 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:15 PM I think the grapple hook is not accurate. I think it looks more like a rifle fired rocket. Or maybe a harpoon. TheMawr
12 hours ago, Cyrox said: First thought was Votann, but the comment about Warhammer's premier culinarians makes me think Ratlings Its actually a joking running theme of all rumor engines articles this month, they talk about food ( or how an animal can be food in the case of the horse/deer leg rumor engine.) Like usual I dont think it does mean anything in regards to the rumor engine itself. With a rather old rumor engine I was convinced was showing a Drill Abbott, and now with the next kill team box being rumored to be "Blood and Zeal" I think the non Khorne side ( assuming the blood is khorne.) might very likely be Zealots/Frateris Militia... and I think this rumor engine is part of that kill team. To me it looks like the front of a bolt pistol is replaced with some sort of stake thing... wich is a inquisitional weapon ( greyfax has a stake/crossbow/bolt pistol.. but this looks nothing like that, much more crude.. like you would expect of frateris militia.) Drill Abott ( the one miniature and all their art shows them with such a skull case, and similar wrapped hands/gloves ) A cherub in its ranks, using the SoB cad element ( as Id assume Frateris Militia may belong there, and effectively are replacement for the noviatates to be rolled out soon.) Maybe the cherub carries this ( Imho this one HAS to be kill team, there is just few rumors it would fit.. however its unlikely that 4 rumor engines so widely spread out are all for a single kill team.. there is that.. ) The big question is ofcourse.. will this be a unit kill team or will kill team start to follow the Warcry pattern; more a wider group of very individual (wich is actually started with Kill team rogue trader, but then abandoned mostly for kill team.) After all a lot was lost that could be returned as members of a more ragtag zealots team/40k unit rather than a 10man unit, like the crusaders* and there is recent (but less likely) mention of Abhumans/Beastmen being recruited more often in frateris militia squads. * Who knows... instead of fraternis militia its a drill abott and a unit of crusaders ( now also equipped with stake pistols etc. .. kind of how Tankbustas have an extra in the wrecka boyz ).. wich somehow valraks source thought where grey knights Edit : nope, just reading up on it as this crusaders being mistaken for grey knights theory is growing on me but.. crusaders eschew ranged weaponry, theory might still be true, but then the rumor engine probably isnt.
