Miss the days where you got more than one photo for miniature previews

That being said I like it. The only thing that I'm not super sold on is the fact the torso collar looks so high that unless you prop the head up with greenstuff or something it doesn't look like a helmet would fit without being pushed up by the armor

And that marks the start of the Martian Civil War character models appearing.

Is it just me that finds the fact that the above translates to just Space Marines and not a single actual Martian in sight weird?

Really not a fan of this mini as Nex. I just so much prefer his gorgeous black book art featured in the article.

Overall I fell RG work well when more restrained - whereas this this is a preponderance of raven skulls and detail.

I’m having trouble with this one - there’s something about it that looks “off” to me, and I’m struggling to put my finger on it.

o think it may be the implied length of the torso, which feels short. It could be the chest plate which feels overly cumbersome for the Raven Guard. Maybe it’s the paint scheme that made me immediately think of the Night Lords.

Maybe some other 360 shots might make more sense, but at the moment it’s not a mini I’m liking.

Once again a model that feels more 40k'ified to me unfortunately. Yes he's ravenguard, but 5 giant raven skulls (so far we can tell now....) feels a bit excessive to me.

pose is cool, though I struggle to see how he'd fit a helmet in that gorget.

Gorgeous mini. The skulls should be easy enough to remove and I like that there's hints of the Lycean designs carved into his armor. I'm glad they went a bit more experimental than his artwork - everybody can just kitbash a plain MkVI marine into a moritat. No need to waste a release slot for that. This feels like something people will be able to also convert and kitbash with.

Gee, I wonder what legion he's from. It's really hard to tell...

Sarcasm aside, for a character whose meant to be barely accepted in the legion he has a lot of legion icons. I agree with the others on his chest piece, it makes him look too chunky which is the opposite point of the Mk VI armour. Also another model with a cape molded into the shoulder pads, again I didn't think he'd be one for capes which, apart from camo cloaks, I wouldn't have thought the RG would have been too big on either.

Lastly his head, looks more like Sevatar that Nex.

I like him, he reminds me a bit of batman in one of his more heavily armoured incarnations. Ravenman.

I notice that a lot of the detail on the armour is inscribed, so removing material rather than adding it.

Model is fine but it honestly reads more 'Praetor' than 'Moritat barely tolerated by his Primarch', I figured he would have a more basic model and nicer guns tbh.

The backpack also feels really weirdly high, might just be the angle.

Despise the paint they went with, Nex isn't meant to be just 'white', look at his art that man is Ash Blind. His skin should be as white as a Sally is black, not the boring human white.

The eyes bug me the most, they went out of their way to paint scelera on someone whose eyes specifically, and they even had reference art, should be black-on-black.

The haircut also drives me nuts, they bald-ify so many characters and they then put it on the one guy who actually have what could generously be called a buzzcut?

Its a good Ravenguard model, sans the paint, but it feels like they slapped the name of one of the most atypical RG on it...

Yeah the model lacks sexy stubble, so 0/10

I'm sure it's the photo but the gun in his hand looks a little bit curved.

And he almost seems too small for his armour...

Anyway, it doesn't matter. I can't justify the absurdly cost of these fw resin characters. I cannot.

And this situation is making me sad and angry.

I dont often say this about spacemarines, but that is a very cool miniature, love it. I like that some of the elements and ravenskulls are indented (?).. GW has a tendency to mostly do embossed details, but recently Ive seen more indented* ones and it gives a more esoteric element to it.

The more I look at it.. might be a great basis for something tzeentchian actually..

* I have no idea if Im using the correct word... basically something thats both etched and embossed at the same time.

Wish they'd showed more of his pistols in this; the Fulcrums are kind of his whole shtick as a distinguisher from generic Moritats.

Also, it really feels like rubbing salt in the wound with that head sculpt right next to the one piece of artwork that exists for the guy. They look nothing alike.

In English, you might be looking for "relief" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relief). It's a sculpture technique involving parts of the sculpt being raised relative to others. I'm not sure if that's exactly the context.

There's a lot I like but he's not as sinister as I had imagined. I always liked his Night Lord in XIXth Legion clothing vibe but it's not quite hitting the mark here.

Still, it's a nice model and I wouldn't have any problem picking him up if I collected Raven Guard.

As a random raven guard praetor he's very cool.

As kaedes next, he's off. Super diverges from his old art, and doesn't give the correct vibe. The RG moritats were definitely treated as suicide troops, with Nex being ostracized by a lot of the legion. The model isn't giving that expendable and ignored energy; it's giving full access to the armoury, respect and prestige. I don't remember how his paid rules in 2nd went, but he never had artificer previously lol

I'm kind of torn on this mini. As a standalone Raven Guard I guess it's decent enough but this mini hardly screams 'Istvaan survivor'. Feels like his armour is too decorative and far too intact for someone who got out of the dropsite massacre in one piece. I would have loved to seen a small homage to Istvaan 5, such as a greave or pauldron in a different armour mark that he scavenged.

I really don't get why it's so removed from the official art too; I'm not sure the model really conveys the background of the character and it's a shame those unique pistols aren't more visible. It could be a 40k model in some respects, not their best work IMHO.
