Heresy Thursday Kaedes Nex

I made a version of Nex at the start of 2.0, just based on a normal mk6 guy with  some extra kit. Attempted a gunfighter in mid-draw pose. 
 

 

My version isn’t perfect but it did the job, arguably better than this. This new guy is a Praetor in Artificer armour. In fact, given how RGs aren’t meant to be that ostentatious, he’s probably way over the top even for that.
 

He absolutely isn’t a murderer, fleeing from Istvaan IC, shunned by his fellow RGs and fighting with whoever will take him. It’s a nice model in its own terms but not really right for 30k RGs and absolutely not for Nex. 

Luckily, Nex’s rules are completely awful right now and RG players have been doing  fine without him. 
 

The weird chest armour could actually look like a fancy version of the jump pack harnesses assault marines wear. Give this guy a jump pack (preferably from dark furies) and a thunder hammer or sword, and you’d have a great Praetor. You’d probably want to replace those holsters with something but a pistol and a scabbard would work fine for that. 

 

Edit: It looks like the new model is on a 32mm base, so I can carry on using mine - not that anyone really cares about base sizes in heresy anyway. Must fix that shoulder transfer on better though.

Nice that they remembered that the Raven Guard exist so that is a positive. A bit less nice that the design is so very different from the rest we've seen for the RG so far. It doesn't feel like how I imagine Nex to look like nor does the model fit in with the rest of my army very well. Ah well, can't win them all.

I presume this is Nex after he makes it back to Terra, recuperates and goes with Corax to Mars. Maybe he made a name for hisself on Isstvan and got a swanky new suit on Terra?

Plausibly, yes. I suppose it arguably makes sense to make a model of him later in the heresy, participating in events that are actually documented.

 

Even so, he has a 3+ save. There are a lot of characters in way less showy armour than that, with 2+. It seems weird that you'd give an assassin a suit of ostentatious armour that provided no additional protection. The cloak allows him to pose like a pantomime baddie (boo hiss!), so I can see why that's useful. I thought about giving my version a poncho like the man with no name, but couldn't be bothered/didn't think I'd do a good job.
