The Imperial Cult Frateris-Militia guys are pretty good. Love that both the Missionaries are re-done versions of old miniatures, and most of the others are nice. Not sure why the death cult assassin has a hood, looks off to me compared to the sleek bodysuit (and the simple masks that older death cult minis had).

Khorne guys are ok. I think with some head-swaps they could be a good Necromunda Outcast gang- scavengers who initiate their new recruits by replacing their legs to better adapt to the shifting grounds of the Ash Wastes/Underhive.

Also, quickest turnaround that isn't inverse on a rumour engine?

Technically, the quickest turn-around on a Rumour Engine was for one of the AoS Slaanesh units, which had already been revealed.

I quite like both of these units, although I'm not certain if a Jakhal-spinoff was the right call for World Eaters. The WE Snipers from Nachmund Gauntlet would've been my preferred shout.

So the Cherub's wing matches with the assumed SM Cherub Wing rumour engine.

However, I'm more interested in the Cyberlegs.

Can someone post that robot leg rumour engine everyone was connecting to the T-Sons Psy-Automa?

I think that might actually be one of these guys.

That's what I meant by inverse. Either way, very quick.

An interresting release, even if I do not really see how thé scenery part faits intro Volkus theme.

Since the cannon is in an imperial city one might occasionally find imperial statues. Especially since this is fluffed as an escort mission, it might be one in a plaza great for an ambush.

Mechanics wise I can imagine the Sanctifiers wanting to keep it unprofaned along the way, curry favour from Big E for added protection, while the Goremongers might elect to defile it to break their opponents.

The imperials are lovely miniatures.

Jakhals don't really do anything for me, would rather have had more berzerkers or beastmen. Having said that, the mechanical augmentation used to be more of a thing for Khorne, and it's always interesting to see mechanicum elements get crossed with chaos and (latterly) genestealer cult.

They seem quite different.

You'll have to forgive me a little:

The models are cool. They look like good sculpts and giving WE some variety for their Jakhals seems good. Sort of.

But kill team - teams? They are boring.

You know what the game is lacking and need more of? More Imperium teams!!! We don't have enough of those. Yes! Other factions aren't even represented but you know what we are really lacking in the game? More Imperium Teams! /s

I honestly just don't understand their thinking. You have factions who aren't represented at all or under represented and you choose to bolster the faction that has more teams than any other by adding yet another team... yawn...

I'm not overly interested in this one as the Khorne guys are a big miss for me - while I get the 'legs like Bloodletters' thing, it doesn't fit with my understanding of the setting that a khorne cult/warband would be able to repeatedly produce bionics for elective surgery on mortals - target a marine with a bionic leg and manage to graft it on a wounded Berzerker yes, chop up and build combat effective bionics for glorified cultists, no.

The Imperials I need more views of, if there are alternate heads or they look better when others have painted them I could be tempted to pick them up for my wider imperial bucket of models, but they really suffer from the overly smooth/flat mannequin heads that have been more and more common since I first noticed them on dragon lady inquisitor.

The statue is fine - I'd consider it a plus if I was picking up the box, but I doubt it'll be a good value proposition from people buying the box for the squads and shifting it.

I actually really like this.

World Eaters sending in a bunch of slightly-saner mortals when they want to do SpecOps makes some sense. I totally understand why a lot of World Eaters players will be upset the WE KT doesn't have any actual World Eaters, but as a resident cultist and Lost & Damned shill I think they're pretty cool.

I've been hoping to see the Sisters get Fraternis Militia back since the revamp first dropped, so I'm nothing but happy with the second team also.

The only eyebrow raising model for me is the Death Cult Assassin - they look far more mundane and, frankly, generic compared to the pretty iconic designs that went before; even if they wanted to reduce the 'cheesecake' aesthetic they could have done it without turning them into what now looks to be another Officio Assassinorum Assassin rather than an agent of the Ecclesiarchy/Inquisition.

Oh and rip that Grey Knights KT I guess?

I didn't want to say this but I think it needs saying for those of us who might be concerned with it but feel we can't say anything...

Not sure why GW feels the need to gender swap the Death Cult Assassin? I like the model objectively but the old Death Cult were supposed to be female elite killers at the peak of human performance.

I noticed GW is doing this a lot lately and I don't like how it removes a facet of the narrative.

Loving the Chaos side of this release. Feels very much characterful and brutal.

Ok I take back what I said and I already know some of you are going to disagree with me. That is fine. I still think adding more Imperium Teams is super boring. KT has an over abundance of them as it is.  This model is ok, his face is meh. Not great, not terrible.

image.thumb.png.fd2755e7dfa2ff412b40a1489a34551f.png

There is going to be a recurring theme here: The cherub head is horrible. I guess they were always kinda horrible. baby body, man head. He looks like Guy Fieri...

The conflagrator: They need to update flamers - we'll see this again but they look old now. meh. His head is also horrible. What is with the hair. Again a recurring theme here but the open mouth yelling just doesn't look good. Body and robes are boring. What can you do I guess. It's robes and this team is full of them.

image.thumb.png.e58164188b0f480215fee26fe4cf154b.png

The missonaries aren't too bad. The plasma gun guy looks a little bit like monkey man but his head isn't too bad. the torch is ok. Plasma gun from this shot looks pretty good.

The second one in orange isn't too bad. The flamer looks pretty good overall. The head is ok. The yelling face here isn't as bad as the other one.  Some of the better looking models in this set actually.

image.thumb.png.0a187720b1099e8750d8b1eb227abeed.png

The assassin - the old sculpt was better. This one could just be painted poorly. The latex suit vs his black leather boots is just not done well. The blacks are just too same same for me. Even the highlighting which is supposed to make it look more leather or more latex just isn't done well here. His swords look short instead of nice slender long ones and the hooded head doesn't match the rest of the body. It looks out of place. It's not terrible but it's not great.

Drill Abbot: So this is a remake of the Inquisitor model. He's ok. Again his head is meh. not the worst of the bunch but his open mouth is just bad. He doesn't look like he's yelling he just looks like it's hanging open to hang open.

Part 1 of 2 or 3 I guess?

image.thumb.png.d2d40818530ba2b64c1490e25a4e1ee9.png

Persecutor: No bad head for a change. the open yelling mouth is sold better here. the chainsaw / flamer has been seen and done but it's cool enough. One of the better minis. Feels like we've seen it before but it's fine.

Salvationist: Mast is kinda cool, looks ok. Where is the other arm? Is it holding the chest? Hard to tell. little plain but a fine model.

image.thumb.png.22ec98828e87a36774c6fb7d2c6bd866.png

Reliquent: The head, dear gods the head. It's bad. It's fat and bloated with a gaping mouth that makes no sense to me. Old pistol flamer. yawn... the banner isn't anything to write home about.

Miraculist: The model is ok. The problem here is most of us won't be able to paint it in a way to do it justice so most of the time the mini hands and parchment won't look good. but that is on us as painters I guess. Her face here isn't too bad, the open mouth is better done than on most. it makes sense and fits the model.

image.thumb.png.7b58eff4cca7795caba702acce3ae42b.png

Khorne Guys:

Blood Herald: He's ok, nothing for me to complain about really. Mechanical legs are a theme here. sometimes they are done well, sometimes they are not done well. His look good.

I really dislike a lot of their head, mad max face mask things but that is on me I guess. This leader is ok.

Impaler: His pose is a little meh, looks awkward. Hate the face mask head. The legs seem a little too thin to me and the harpoon tip seems too chunky.

image.thumb.png.0c9afc67b42efa6741b7781ea53876b6.png

Skullclaimer: Not bad, his pose is ok, again the legs are a little thin but I guess that is what they are going for here. Axe looks good, head looks good considering.

Stalker: We'll see a lot of this with these minis where they try to pose them off walls and crap... I great dislike it. Hate the pose, I don't think it works too well. The head is meh, the model is a little boring which would be fine if this was a box of 10 of them for 40k and they were rank and file, but this is kill team and they are supposed to be more individual and he doesn't give off that vibe. I might dislike the overall Imperium Team here but they are all individuals for sure.

I think this is going to be a 3 of 3, when I finish I will combine them all so they aren't all over the place.

image.thumb.png.670f956e207ebd42506031fb00156949.png

Inciter: She's ok looking. The legs are skinny but I guess that works here because the models isn't skinny. Don't like the head, I think it looks terrible. Otherwise she's ok.

Bloodtaker: Some of the better legs, might just be his pose. dagger is cool here. Unique. I like that. the bomb or whatever looks a little odd? not sure if that is bomb or something else. But ok. hate his head but that is a theme with me. some of you will love it. His skill looks too long here. no idea why.

image.thumb.png.f6fdc180a99b98bb98719e3c18605a01.png

Last two: Aspirants

1st one: His pose isn't too bad. He's jumping off the wall, they pulled it off pretty well and his legs look pretty good here but it's a little hard to see. Spear chainaxe is different. Still hate the head.

Number 2 - oof not good. Pose isn't great. He's looking into his attack main arm... they did this is Votann Berserkers as well. It's not a good look. Legs look ok, think this is a female so it's a slender model which fits more but it looks like she's going to fall over not run forward. Head is terrible. Left arm looks way too skinny. could have given her a little more muscle.

Thanks for reading. I just am not in love with these models at all. At first glance they seemed ok. Regardless of my feelings that the kill teams are boring and we don't need more imperium teams in a game that has an over abundance of imperium teams.

Oh the Terrain:

image.thumb.jpeg.08282ca07856c6f4cc5d7e6d29595010.jpeg

You get 1 giant statue. It's a good look statue. The Terrain is minimal which I actually like because it used to mean the price of the box would be lower. I don't think that is the case in 2025 and they are going to charge us full price and give us less. So that is a bad deal. But the statue does look good.

The assassin just clicked for me, the sculptor was trying to summon assassin's creed vibes.

I also wouldn't look into the gender swapping thing that much, because I doubt the sculptors even thought about it. They probably got the barest of briefs and the sculptor delivered that and GW just went "eh, close enough"

Was it established as a mono-gendered organisation or is this just a case of the art and models being that way with no written specifics?

Also I think the market of death cult assassin models might be saturated just by 3rd party alone.

I can see such a move to slip up the competition markets actually, yeah.

Regarding whether they explicitly said the Death Cults were all female... it's a matter of theme and narrative. Are all White Scars Mongolian in ethnicity, or is the next release by GW going to be Khan Nigel Atkinson, 3rd Company Captain?

The White Scars recruited from all over the Imperium before the Heresy, i.e Torghun Khan. Not the gotcha you were looking for.

Well @Chapter Master Valrak

@ chaos gods , Next time can I please have a good prediction on something I like ? XD

I had been working a whole post expanding on this theorising haha.

I will be typing more thoughts next ( btw Im going to double down on my theory that Grey knights kill team is actually a grey knights techmarine with all kind of servitor assistants.)

I do recall an image from 2nd edition featuring white scars with eastern european names, but I can't seem to find it. I did however find mention of a rogue trader white scar commander called Mad Chainsaw Johnson.

That said while the Chogorian recruits will probably look like chogorians, the influx of greyshields might've introduced a good chunk of marines that may adopt chogorian names but won't look like chogorians beyond what the geneseed changes in their facial structure.

That reminds me, do white scars recruit only on chogoris or do they recruit on opportunity as well?

I like the Zeal part of this set, seeing a dead ringer for Preacher Josef is a nice touch, I guess after seeing Damien 1427 in the Arco Flagellent kit and the Sergeant Stone/gland warrior in the Inquisitorial kit GW is slowly getting the band back together. I also like the missionaries and how they resemble previous minis but with better execution.

As for the Khornate guys, they leave me cold. I also find giving cultists advanced-looking bionics a little odd to me and though I think the models are okay I'm a little burned out by Khornate models. In AoS and in 40k they are just big angry guys running at whoever they want to dice up. The other Chaos and Xenos factions just seem to have more nuance. World Eaters had an entire army release and they got Berzerkers and two different flavours of bigger Berzerkers. I guess mechanical-legged cultist Berzerkers is a little bit different I guess?

As for the Death Cults, the cult mentioned in Inquisitor was all-female from what I remember, but that was certainly not a requirement for all Death Cults. It makes a change to have a male one but I'm personally not fussed either way really I think he looks fairly good.
