Hey brothers, long time no see.

Life is weird and ive been out of the hobby for some time, tried to get back in previously, but ultimately failed due to real life issues.

 

I want to try a phobos themed list again, and would like some feedback on this list:

 

Captain in phobos armour

Lt in phobos armour


5 infiltrators -helix gauntlet
5 infiltrators -helix gauntlet
5 infiltrators -helix gauntlet
5 incursors

5 incursors

5 incursors

10 reivers-grav chutes, grapnel launchers

5 scouts -sniper, missile launcher, bolters
5 scouts -sniper, missile launcher, bolters

Eliminator squad -sergeant with carbine, 2 x las fusil
Eliminator squad -sergeant with carbine, 2 x las fusil
Eliminator squad -sergeant with carbine, 2 x las fusil

3 outriders with ATV - Multimelta
3 outriders with ATV - Multimelta
Invader ATV -Multimelta
Invader ATV -Multimelta

Invictor warsuit -Incendium
Invictor warsuit -Incendium
Invictor warsuit -Incendium

 

So this should be enough infiltrators to block out a large part of the board from DS'ing

Revier Lt should Ds with reivers, get free D6 move then charge.

Eliminators can go full ratling and move after firing to prevent return fire (thoughts on this or should i rely on vanguard spearhead -1?)

I don't have much experience running marine phobos units so I cannot comment directly on how I think it will do, but that list does look interesting. You've got a high number of units/models + a variety of weapons to deal with different types of units. It has good mobility too.  It seems to have potential?

The Infiltrators and Incursors lost their BATTLELINE OC2 ability - so keep that in mind.

I'm not a fan of Eliminators - especially giving up the third las fusil but meh.  I like Phobos Libbies in big bricks of Infiltrators or Eliminators.  I can shoot you, you can't shoot me.

The Invaders can be added to the Outriders if you want?

I also like the idea of mixing Phobos with Firestrikes.

Cool theme but a bit light on both melee and anti-tank. Eliminators don't have enough firepower to work as your primary source AT, even with the +1 to Wound when shooting at your OOM target. 

 

Similarly, Reivers are a good unit for harassing backfield objective holders with their charge out of Deep Strike but will not be enough to threaten anything tougher than MEQs.

 

Phobos is a cool theme but I think that you need to call in a bit of specialised support. Pure Phobos lacks the tools to deal with tanks, monsters hard-hitting melee units.

Yeah anti-tank has been the bane of scout themed armies since i started them many many years ago. Its why i put in a couple ATVs. ive had a move around, swapped the second lt and a unit of scouts for two more ATVs with multimeltas.

Not much i can do about lack of combat ability, but with some AT elsewhere i can use the warsuits to tackle some combat duties, shoot the choppy, chop the shooty i guess. I suppose i could add in a unit of deepstriking assault termies, or a countas as raven guard list with shrik/chaplain and assault intercessors?

some big changes, not all good sadly, i think las fusils came back with D6 damage now though?, although i cant seem to increase unit size which makes the libby too much to spend to protect 3 guys. Whereas with current scenery rules, they can walk through ruins, shoot and walk back through to protect themselves.
