Apologies everyone.  Poor health yesterday and out fire fighting today has meant the update will be somewhat delayed.  Keep up the awesome work.

UPDATE #1

 

Sorry for the delay on this guys.  Things have been... interesting.

 

So... A challenge update;

 

With only half as many challengers this year to last (6 this year to last years 12)  I'm expecting big things from all of you.  As much to make up for my own failings...

 

With my own lack of updating here as well as how quiet things have been (another thing I blame on myself, as I was hoping to keep the life going in the challenge) I have decided to extend the deadline for the challenge.

 

The March will now finish at mifnight on the 25th of April.  This addition of just over a week will include the Easter Long Weekend for those that get it so hopefully we will get some last minute completions.

 

For the updates we have had we have seen some beautiful Phobos marines from @Grotsmasha.  And with @Deus_Ex_Machina also tackling the First Legion it seems to be the year of the sons of the Lion.  Good to see @TheArtilleryman returning this year.  Hopefully he can succeed at the Guard where I failed.  Nice to see a legacy patrol from @Bob Fossil and I was very close to trying to tackle the modern combat patrol like @gaurdian31.

 

All in all hopefully some promising projects in the works.  Hope to see some update and progress pics in the thread soon.  With only six lets see if we can get an 100% completion on this years MARCH!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I did finish the Terminator Captain over the weekend and I am hoping to get the Terminator Librarian done by Wednesday this week. I'll get some pictures up of the captain tomorrow or Wednesday. After that it is on to the standard terminators and then the Infernus marines. Those character models have a lot of details. I am hoping to succeed this year. The extra days will definitely help!

Loving that purple there @Grotsmasha on the cloak.  Purple is my favourite colour but I've never been overly good at painting it.  And that blue @gaurdian31 is amazing.

 

I haven't even got one squad finished yet so I am highly unlikely to get everything done by the end but I am going to give it a red hot crack.  It doesn't help that I got an army that has vast amounts of edge highlighting as that is an area I am trying to improve on.  Oh, and that I am also attempting to build a shed at the same time so free time is a premium.

 

Still its not the completion that is everything in the March, its the effort to try.

 

I'll try and get a pic up later but how is everyone else doing?

I'm still plugging away, I finished the Librarian over the weekend and got cracking on both the Terminator and Infernus squads. I'll hopefully get some pictures up later in the week. I am hoping to get everything done by the end of the week, but we'll see if RL lets me. @Brother Argent good luck with the shed!

Well that sucks...  Seems  I'm cursed with this March for March thing.  Whilst attempting to build said shed I had a slight accident and, well, one ambulance visit later I am not necessarily up to the painting thing. Cuts and blood thinners don't really mix  Only a minor incident but took a slice of my finger with a sheet of steel so holding models isn't the easiest.  Luckily only my ring finger and only a centermeter or so across but still rather uncomfortable to hold things.  I'll still get as far as I can but thinking the end goal is a bit out of reach.

 

But enough for my comedy of errors, hows everyone else tracking?  The deadline is fast approaching and I've seen more life in a graveyard.  Hows everyone going?  Lets see some WIPs.

@Brother ArgentSorry to hear that! I am glad that it seems you are ok, but that does suck. I wish you a speedy recovery! I did get everything completed over the weekend, group shot below:

@Brother Argent Well sometimes you make an offering to Khorne, sometimes to Nurgle, eitherway, the painting schedule shifts away! With that weather, I have to admit I made offers to Slaanesh through all kind of (legalish) excess... I also got distracted by some biiiig tentacles, but they have nothing to do with Slaanesh.

I'm still pretty confident about making it in time. The extra days will help.

I'll post WIP pictures when I get home.

I haven’t done any more on my vow … nothing so dramatic as Brother Argent’s event… why I have to get obsessively back into The Lord of the Rings Online now when I have two active painting vows I really don’t know… but I am still planning to get it done. Just need to tear myself away from the plains of Rohan long enough to pick up a brush ….

I messed around with a camo pattern, using a stencil that was a pain to set in place. The shapes need some more work to look straighter. And I'm still hesitating about another go with the stencil and another color.

All the minis need some black details, and a light metallic drybrush. I'm not as happy with that molten shoulder pads as I have been with the first marines I painted. Maybe I need to find a faster method.

I'm not happy with the smoke from the grenade either, I think now I want it orange with black recesses...

@Bob Fossil A lot of people use orange for power weapons and I think your LT's looks good! Could we get a side shot? I think the camo pattern looks great as is, it doesn't need to be perfect and on the table they will look great! I see what you are saying about the smoke, it would like a little more natural for the orange to be more prominent and then have black in the recess as you say, but it does still look good.

Update: 5 hours’ work this evening and 5 tanks done:

 

 

The pintle mounts snapped off both the Chimera and the Leman Russ in my painting haste, but to be honest I think I am going to leave them off. I feel they look a bit wrong anyway, especially when the heavy stubber is nearly bigger than the Chimera turret! I’ll clip down the mounts at a later date.

 

Just the six artillery crew remaining. Nothing like cutting it close!

Looking good @TheArtilleryman.  Those tanks are looking damned sweet.  And I agree on pintle mounted weapons.  I've always thought they look kinda goofy.

 

I'll hopefully get a WIP of my Pathfinders up tomorrow.  I've managed to work out a way to get a bit of use out of my hand so going to do my usual insanity and try and bach through the remainder of the models this week.

 

And in other news I've got the damned cursed shed about as far as I can, so for the moment no more construction related injuries there.  Tomorrow will likely be make or break day on if I am going to get this done.  I need to get majority of base colours done and sorted or else I will be too far sunk to get it done one time.

I am currently doing the last two minis from the Dark Vengeance Boxset: Chaplain and Librarian. They should be either finished during this evening or tomorrow which would be the last day for the challenge.
