Helias_Tancred
I don't like GW's plastic glue. I don't like Army Painter's plastic glue. I'm a bit leery of the strong fumes from Tamiya thin cement ... are there any other brands worthy to try? andes
I use Tamiya extra thin for most jobs. For big joints I like Testors Model Master (though I think the Model Master brand is long gone). Be aware that all solvent (plastic) glues are going to have a chemical smell. Solvents are nasty. Either way, this stuff: Helias_Tancred 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385460-plastic-glues/#findComment-6099027 Share on other sites
Rusted Boltgun
There is Revell Contacta Professional (in the UK/Europe at least) but it is also a bit fumey and the nozzle clogs (though it is designed so you can store it tipped to reduce the clogging potential). Revell.de The day I use anything other than Revell Contacta is the day I've been replaced with a changeling. Also on the clogged needle, I pull it out from the bottle and hold it with a set of pliers. Run a lighter over it and it'll burn the glue out. DO NOT DO THIS WITH THE NEEDLE IN THE BOTTLE. The glue dissolves itself, it's much easier to remove the tube, flip it and reinsert, then tip the glue to use it, it will take a few seconds, but will begin to flow all by itself. Sky Potato
The Tamiya extra thin quick-setting cement smells much less than the normal extra thin. Not to say it doesn't smell, just that its not as strong. Anecdotally, I can use the quick-setting glue around the wife without getting told off too much. If I use the standard Tamiya extra thin, or GW cement, she really complains. Urauloth
Mr Hobby brand plastic glues are excellent but can be a real pain to get in the UK. Mr Cement S is similar to the Tamiya extra thin, while Mr Cement Deluxe is a brush-on goop you can use to fill small gaps as well as sticking things together (that one stinks, however). It's really hard to beat Revell Contacta as a general purpose glue though. I don't think I ever assemble plastic minis without using it somewhere. Its the only one the Lady of the House accepts. Firedrake Cordova
Revell Contacta is decent (and cheap), but I've found it to be quite "hot" (aggressive) and harder to control than Tamiya Extra Thin. I'm a little surprised to hear people finding the Tamiya glue to have a smell in normal use (it definitely does if you spill 30% of a bottle ) ... maybe I've gone "nose blind" Helias_Tancred, Urauloth and crimsondave 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385460-plastic-glues/#findComment-6099227 Share on other sites

Jukkiz Posted yesterday at 09:49 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:49 AM i love this, easy application and if the metal tube gets glogged, you can just yoink it out and give it abit lighter and it should clear itself out in most cases. Others, use thin but firm metal wire after the lighter treatment. Brother Carpenter
I'm using Revell contacta as well, or UHU plastic kleber. But the metal snout of the Revell product beats all the other application tools of date I have used. I can also recommend pure thinner, do be mindful of the used amount because it will dissolve plastic, you get an almost unbreakable bond as it fuses the contact points. It also gives you great inspiration and releases your inner unrestricted artist when used in an enclosed unventilated room Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385460-plastic-glues/#findComment-6099667 Share on other sites
