Not that limited though, to borrow the chart from 1d6chan's tactics page:

12 out of 19 consoles (generic not legion) can take termie armour, sure they have limited wargear but at the end of the day it will be the same options taken, a combi weapon and either a thunder hammer or power fist.

If you are not in a min-maxing Community, you see more variance, like Consuls with Bike and Jetpack.

True but losing access to options doesn’t affect the balance of the game if you still have access to the best stuff. It affects how much you can personalise your characters but not who wins the game.

For my Raven Guard I do nearly always use power armour on food or with a jump pack, but that’s so I get infiltrate (on foot) or to join dark furies. Otherwise that extra wound would be very appealing.

Depends how you define the best Options.

Moritats are a fine example which are Power Armour only and can be good (looking at Iron Hands and IF)

And if you dont play IF, a Charakter with Jump Pack is one of the few Options to get Deep Strike in a Charakter.

Granted, some stuff only works for Certain Legions.

You mean behind walls, surely, Son of Dorn?

I wonder if we'll have another Heresy-less Thursday today? The last time there were three weeks without anything was back at the tail end of 1.0, when GW were doing the monthly Legion Dispatch instead, I think?

=][= I've removed some posts as off topic. Please keep discussion relevant to the topic at hand, in this case a new edition release of Horus Heresy and what changes or models might accompany it, for example.

If anyone would like to discuss the virtues and vices of leaks, how they affect businesses and staff or indeed painting staff levels at Games Workshop and their effects on miniature painting, please start a relevant topic in Amicus.

No Heresy Thursday, so looking more like we won't hear anything until the Dallas preview.

Did they post that somewhere on social media? There are still 3 more slots today (10:30, 11, 11:30 for EST) that they normally post articles

and yes I realize I'm huffing hopium

Edit

My hopium has failed

They showed off a new LotR model so the specialist games slot for Thursday is done.

I theorize that with the lack of Heresy Thursdays and the general lack of Heresy at anything else, there will likely be either a box or a smaller release sometime soon. Hadn't they done something similar with 10e, or am I misremembering?

Similar, I believe there was one or two releases but nothing major, same for AoS

The big difference is that they announced 10th edition and whatever edition AoS is at Adepticon during those years, so people generally understood that it would be quiet.

While we all have seen the rumors from here and Valrak, there's been no wording on a suspension of Heresy Thursdays (like they normally do when there's a big gap) or a new edition by WHC which makes it feel like it's almost in limbo

I'm just hoping there are Day 1 lists for people to use, the rules don't waffle.

Yeah the 2.0 drop was great fun for every player that didn't play a base legion ey... god that was terrible haha.

101 on how to suck the wind out of a release's sails!

The last Heresy preview stated "something new each month." We'll see a model and / or release in May. Should a new edition preview at the Dallas Open, it's possible we don't see the 3.0 release until July or later. Horus Heresy 2.0 was announced March 23rd, 2022 and released in June, 2022 for context.

I think if they show it off at the Dallas preview, we will see it in July. GW have usually released a summer game for as long as I can remember (30 plus years!), but I can see things being delayed with all the recent tariff stuff going on.

I couldn't believe it when it dropped. It was like "Wow, this looks cool" and then just had to wait for rules for stuff. I'm really hoping we get to see some pdfs but then they may just take the approach that the target audience will just buy whatever books they need on release. They just need to be there on release.

To be fair, didn't AoS 4 launch in July last year anyway? Their production troubles might have led them to shift things a little bit

Doesn't seem to have affected GW's release thus far.

We'll never really know unless GW tell us anyway. We're not privy to their release schedule so everything is rumour and educated guesses so for all we know it could release in September but maybe that was always the plan.

Possibly has all the nonsense in the US delayed a potential release schedule? They may be looking at options to deal with it.

There is a good 20 pages in this thread so no idea if it has been discussed or not.

I seriously doubt it.  $32 on a $315 box is noticeable but I can’t see it keeping people willing to spend $300+ away.  GW has been well in the black so they could eat it or share it.  Even if they passed 100% on I think people will buy it regardless.  The book is likely printed in China but if it goes through the UK for packaging it will probably be ok, but I’m not sure how that works.
