This. I genuinely cannot fathom how people just bend over and let gw tell them when and how to get :cuss:. Used to be a huge diy/homegrown feel to WFB and first edition heresy. Made for a better player base not full of people waiting to be told what to do.

Platform Decay or En:cuss:tification isn't something unique to digital platforms. I don't think its got much to do with the people.

A lot of it is also people trying to align over distance since the communities are so spread out. It’s easier to do homegrown stuff if you only ever play with the same four people. It’s harder if you’re driving to another state to play in an event you only do every few months. The guys in the UK seem to be in a similar situation where they’re traveling around to weekend events instead of gaming with the same small core group of buddies.

How it this even an 8-page topic ?

With not a single substantial hint that this might be real ?

If it came from somewhere like 4chan or reddit there would be way more doubt. But given it comes from Valrak, over-excited and loud he may be, he is one of, if not THE guy, when it comes to accurate rumours. Added to that, GW turning the moderate success of Heresy 2.0 into an edition churn is entirely plausible.

Granted there's been no solid rumours on whether its 3.0 or just a rules tidy, but Valrak has been describing the box content, and his sources (whispers in the warp as he calls them) are usually accurate - not always, but the vast majority are right on the money.

Given previous timings, we'll know more at adepticon in a week or so. If there’s to be a new 'edition' or whatever that word is to mean in this context, there will be a spiffy cgi trailer showing the IW and Salamanders trying to kill each other.

On a separate note, is there any outstanding elements from the previous road map? Or is HH just waiting on the new resin figures that got revealed these past few weeks?

Wasn't the roadmap just "more tanks?"

We got some Mechanicum tanks since then so maybe that's it but there are still plenty of resin options to replace.

The outstanding HH releases that have been announced are the Mechanicum tanks (krios/karacnos), thanatar calix and usarax, Angron transfigured and Lotara and the resin characters Astor Crohne and the Blood Crow. Technically Diaz hasn't been announced, but fairly safe to assume he will pop up soon as well.

If you look beyond the roadmap (which teases new factions as well), the interview from the same event has more information.

3:10 onwards.

Adam Troke: What's next on the horizon for the Horus Heresy setting, be that Age of Darkness or Legions Imperialis?

Andy Hoare: So specifically for Age of Darkness first of all we're carrying on our journey into the core Space Marine range, so there'll be plenty more coming out for that. Hopefully quite soon there'll be a Melee Weapons set!

Adam Troke: The long-awaited!

Andy Hoare: The long-awaited Melee set which we've mentioned in some roadmaps in the past, we're probably almost ready to show those I'd have thought. Much awaited. There'll be more Space Marine stuff - more core Space Marine stuff. Longer term we'll start diving into the individual legions in plastic as well, but for the foreseeable future it's still the core stuff because there's an awful lot there to do. There'll be subsequent waves of Solar Auxilia and of Mechanicum as well so we'll carry on broadening each of those factions for a little while yet.

Adam Troke: That's incredible - it feels like you're just sort of getting started really.

Andy Hoare: It's quite funny, yeah - after twelve years or so of doing the Age of Darkness setting previously with Forge World and then a couple of years doing it with, in the plastic range, it's just starting to mature really. When we get into the legion-specific stuff down the line that will be the real awakening of it.

Adam Troke: That sounds amazing. What can you tell us about future releases for Legions Imperialis?

Andy Hoare: Legions Imperialis is a great range because it's all plastic, and most of it is drawing off of vehicles and unit types that we already know about for the Age of Darkness game. It's definitely our ambition long term that anything we make for the full scale Age of Darkness game we would also make at Epic scale for the Legions Imperialis game. That gives us an enormous amount of stuff to explore, so we're likely to be doing that for many years yet, there's a huge amount to do.

We came out of the gates with a core Space Marine and a Solar Auxilia range, so obviously we want to carry on expanding that, but there's other factions to explore. There's Mechanicum, there's Custodes, there's Sisters of Silence, there's a whole load of stuff that we could do in the future as we come to it - but it's a big job of work initially to fill out the Space Marine range and the Solar Auxilia range, so that's we'll be doing for the next few years.

I am a little surprised they have not mentioned anything yet for a possible preview show or anything for adepticon. The GW show at the event is about a week away, with it being shown at the venue itself on the 26th I believe.

We typically get the announcement article containing the systems and so forth a week or so out, normally the Monday or Tuesday of the preceding week.

I think that currently, in addition to Valraks rumored boxset, we are supposed to get the Marine Super heavies like the Glaive and also plastic rapiers around the new edition launch.

Fellblade recently disappeared from the store, Glaive and Falchion have been gone for a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to get a Baneblade-style box with all the options "soon".

Maybe, though the way they’ve gone about tanks so far is to box them all separately. Typhon and Cerberus, for example.

It might make them a bit cheaper this way, though I’m not sure. It might be more efficient for them to put another sprue in instead of requiring shelf space. That’s the approach they’ve taken in 40K.

I think it likely is done in various boxes tl encourage you to buy more, as if it had all the weapons some people would just use magnets, and get all options that way.

I imagine separate SKUs initially. The glaive gun is so big and needs a different front plate to the fellblade, and the falchion is a casemate so almost different tank entirely. I can see the glaive/fellblade being repackaged together in a few years though.

Yeah, kinda like they did with the baneblade and variants.

More Dreadnoughts is always good IMO. Would prefer a plastic Mk. IV Castraferrum, as aside from anything else the old FW ones were amazing models, but something new would be nice too. Will be interested to see the Mk. II, hopefully they don't cheap out on the banding.

Would love to know whether the Mk. II have overlapping bands of armor on the legs, or if they're like the new (lesser IMO) Mk. III legs.  And interested to see what the Saturnine dread and termis end up looking like.  I do have to say that I'm not super jazzed for the alleged models.  I don't think I'll like the Mk. II, and the new dread and terminators seem unnecessary.  Would have much rathered to get upscaled cataphractii or tartaros instead.  Another dreadnought seems unnecessary, I don't know what niche it would fill.  And finally, I don't know that many people will have a use for whatever sort of gun emplacement apparently comes with the box.
