With the glow-up to Intercessors and the buff to Oath I'm just curious: has anyone used a full Codex Company list; and if so, with any success?

Gladius Task Force

1 Captain (Warlord)

- leading 1 4-man Company Heroes

1 Lieutenant (leading one of the squads below) - alternatively swappable with an Apothecary, Chaplain, Librarian, etc...

6 10-man Intercessors (6 "Tactical" units)

2 10-man Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs (2 "Assault" units)

2 10-man Hellblasters (2 "Devastator" units)

106 Marines / 1980 points

Yes, casual; but I meant in a regular game, not crusade.

I've recently have had good games with an almost all infantry SW list (2 10-man WGTerm, 1 15-man Blood Claws, 1 10-man Assault Intercessors, 6-man Lascannon Long Fangs, 2 5-man FWolves, 8-9 characters) and was curious to see peoples thoughts on a full vanilla company list in a game.

That is actually quite impressive. Something tells me you would benefit from splitting some of these units into 5-man "combat squads", like one each Hellblasters and Assault Intercessors with jump packs should be split to cover more ground. Maybe one or two Intercessors units too, so you have smaller unit you can dedicate to Actions. Honour Vehement on the Captain and it looks like you're golden.

This might even be better in Stormlance since everything that wants to shoot already has Assault, so you'd basically always have the benefit of Devastator and Assault Doctrine. And Sustained Hit 1 on Hellblasters is always nice! Plus flat 6" reactive move instead of d6" most of the time...

I have been building toward something similar, though I have very few games in 10th ed and all of them are 500 point Boarding Actions.  The 2k list I'm building/painting toward is:

GTF

Captain

Lt (or other support character - leaning toward Techmarine)

Command Squad

2x5 Assault Intercessors

2x5 Intercessors

1x5 Jump Pack Assault Intercessors

1x5 Infiltrators

1x5 Sternguard

1x5 Terminators

1x10 Hellblasters

2x5 Devastators (one squad with lascannons, one squad with grav guns)

Land Raider

2 Predators (Annihilator or Destructor with las sponsons)

=66 Marines + an armor squadron at 2k points

I keep an eye on /r/WarhammerCompetitive even though I'm pretty firmly a casual gamer/mostly hobbyist at this point.  But I like to try and keep up with what is going on, so I understand what I'm getting myself into.  There have been some Black Templar lists that went infantry heavy that did well competitively.  Nothing quite to the scale of throwing down 100 marines.  Mobility and killing power will be struggles.  A lot of armies keep an eye toward being able to kill the marine stat line efficiently.  Many competitive lists take as few Battleline units as they can get away with, as Battleline tends to lack killing power.

It's not all bad, though. You have a ton of OC to throw around, you can try to just swamp objectives and win that way.  By including no vehicles, you're a skew list - if people did not bring enough plasma/heavy bolter/etc fire to take out a lot of marines, they'll struggle, and their anti-tank weapons are going to be killing marines incredibly inefficiently.

10 man squads are fluff-appropriate, but I agree with jpwyrm and would go one further to say that most of your squads should be 5 mans.  In 10th edition, at least, wargear is free, and every squad you split 10 to 5 is one more sergeant you get to equip with shiny stuff.  I have my Hellblasters arranged into a 10 man squad with the intent of sticking them in the Land Raider with the Lt to go delete something.

In a casual game I think it'd work alright.  I don't think it's an auto-loss, but it might be an uphill battle - depending on how casual your opponent is, or the specific matchup.

I always try and make a full company list here and there through the life of an edition- this time I came up with:

Captain (Tacticus)

Chaplain

Lieutenant

Lieutenant

Battle Line (by Shoulderpad)

Heavy Intercessors x10

Intercessors x10

Intercessors x10

Tacticals x10

Tacticals x10

Infiltrators x10

Fast Attack (By Shoulderpad)

Assault Intercessors With Jump Packs x10

Assault Intercessors (on foot) x10

Heavy Support (By Shoulderpad)

Devastators x10

Devastators x10

Exactly 2,000 points
