Dark Vengeance Boxset - Fallen Dark Angels

I don´t want to clutter the March Challenge thread with my progress so that´s why I am creating this one. Furthermore once the SM content of that box has been finished this thread can also be used to post the progress of the Chaos content of the Dark Vengeance boxset.

The Tactical squad has been assembled and awaits priming. Naturally I will need a test mini to try my paint scheme before I apply it to the squad. For this I will need to rummage through my bits box to find a candidate for this task.

Update:

Power armour is finished. Most of the metal parts still need to be darkened. The paintjob should be done tomorrow. I will probably go for a desert base.

Maybe I will do hazard stripes for the chainsword when everything else is done for the project and there is still time on the clock. I went for an inconsistent glow effect on the plasma weapons although only the pistol looks alright. The other to weapons feel a little bit off. Maybe it´s because there is much more plasma coil space on those guns. 

 

Tomorrow I will need to check my decal sheets, if there are suitable numbers left for the kneepads. I was also wondering about doing some sort of heraldic effect on the left kneepad but again only if there is still time left. There is masking tape in my hobby inventory so it shouldn´t be too much of a hassle.

 

The power armour looks suitably dark and you can only see mild accentuations when a light is shown upon the models as I tried to recreate the artwork. There are also armour chipping effects planned for tomorrow to break up the monotony of the dark green design. Art is fine and good but sometimes it doesn´t transfer well enough for tabletop models.

Tabletop status has been achieved. Decals and weathering haven´t been applied though:

There is a slight blue smudge on the helm of the plasma gunner which needs to be addressed in the future.

 

I will start working tomorrow on the three bikes.

I accentuated a few edges like it was shown in the art with oily steel instead of using a brighter green as it is done in a run-of-the-mill paintjob. I might add Dark Angels transfers to the bikers and sand dust to the bases at the end of the project. Tomorrow five terminators will be assembled and primed.

Today the assembly of the characters starts. Challenge ends on the 25th of April so there should be ample time to pull it off.
