Finished my first 2 noise marines.

Not totally sold on the backpack brain, but those have always stymied me a little.

Also had 2 1000 point games on Sunday, against orks and necrons, using the list I posted above.  In both, it was all over before the end of turn 3, and I got swanked.

Against orks, I made an error of shooting squad of lootas that then used a stratagem to then delete my squad in response (except the attached lord) and then I failed a number of crucial charges.  Against the necrons, I suffered from my usual problem of everything just dieing from his 3 squads of 6 destroyers, combined with some poor deployment of my noise marines.  In both games, my coterie benefits never kicked in early enough to actually come to any use.

Not terribly impressed by the codex, having played it.  Noise marines are the only real highlight so far, but are very challenging to use given their absurdly short range - but if you can get them in range without having been shot up they are very powerful, especially the blast masters.  I do also think that they particularly suffer at low point levels (for example, my list didn't have any chaff to use for actions or such) and without ITC/GW style tourney terrain - we tried to do that type of layout, but my available terrain wasn't really sufficient for our needs.  Overall, my experience reinforced my prior conclusions that I think EC is the weakest of this edition's chaos codex's.

That said, the thrill seekers rule created an interesting puzzle, and I did enjoy having a maulerfiend fall back from a unit of scarabs to then charge a unit of destroyers some 18 inches behind them - which was satisfying even if ultimately to no avail in that all that happened was it killed half the squad then was finished off by the attached lord.
