By all accounts they should have maybe taken a break from making grand cathay and made more typhon sets. Another failure to read the consumer base perhaps?

Considering that the cathay battalion is sold out in US, EU and UK (did not look at more regions) seems like they read the base just fine.  If anything, as its a brand new army and the battalion is the logical first purchase,  maybe they did not make enough Cathay?

Yeah was why I went to local GW, I like the staff there and had already missed out on pre ordering from any of my usual online stores so thought I’d give launch day a try.

my son has built the terrain already and made a start on the ravenors now

Typhon in the wild!

My local FLGS has increased focus on Warhammer - if only I had known! My copy is sitting with Parcel force at the moment

Parcel Force… So there is 75% chance it will disappear before you claim it then

Mine arrived yesterday afternoon, but we were at a party at some friends' house and we had sort of decided on taking the weekend off from hobby stuff. Still, I went and picked it up today (with only a slight hangover) and I must say the terrain looks really good in the flesh (or should that be "in the plastic"?). It's definitely going to look pretty gross once it's painted up and while it's new and slightly more detailed, it looks like it'll go well with the old tyranid terrain bits I have lying around from ancient times.

The models look cool too, although I honestly don't have "the full picture" of them yet, so to speak. Once I put them together, I'll probably appreciate them even more. I hope to make them part of my final Tyranid vow for CtA, but there's still quite a ways to go with my current vow, so it won't be right away.

In any case, Typhon looks like it's a solid investment, as the book and co-op campaign looks very interesting too. I think we'll use it to both get a hang of the Kill Team mechanics, but also it seems like the kind of game we really enjoy, so I'm very happy with it so far.

Kill Team 3.0 is a brilliant game Brother, if I understand you, this is your intro to it? Well done taking that step, you won't regret it.

It is and it isn't - I already have the rulebook, as I thought the co-op mechanics sounded interesting and I thought it might be the kind of game we'd play at home but we haven't actually gotten around to it yet. Then, when Typhon was announced, we decided to just wait for that as we have a bunch of Tyranids we're working on. So I think it'll work out nicely :)

Thanks

It seems like we have all the Tyranid NPOs already painted up (except for Lictors and Raveners, but that'll come soon enough) and I figure my Deathwatch can be an Angels of Death kill team. I have no idea if they're any good/good as a starter team, but they seem thematically appropriate for an anti-xenos campaign.

Those are the teams in the latest Mountainside Tabletop battle report on YouTube. Should be fun!
