Those robots are so terrible that even I feel bad for Thousand Sons players. I usually laugh at their misfortune. This is just plain bad. Sorry, filthy Tzeentch worshippers, you got G’d.

Yeah, I had been really looking forwards to the rumors of them because I thought they'd be more like the Heresy era ones. I'd been wanting to paint TS for a while and the box valrak predicted sounded good

That died tonight. Died and turned to sand in armor as soon as I saw the robots. Those things are terrible

Dark Age human-tech based robots all lean into bubble heads and other retro sci-fi aesthetics. They’re not Ironkyn heads, but descended from the same designs that Ironkyn are descended from.

The DG character continues to look weird to me.

Eh, we have quite a few examples of the bubble head, including a literal man of iron. None match nearly as well.

Those seem to be a one for one with an Ironkyn processor from what is visible in shape, painting style and overall appearance. It seems deliberate.

Give it an edition or 2 and I doubt we'll even have dust in armour anymore.
Not like we've gotten anything new that uses our faction's supposed "Main thing" since 7th.

Pretty unimpressive across the board in my opinion. The automata are too weedy for my tastes and of all the single characters they could have done for World Eaters, 'slightly angrier Eightbound' was the least interesting.

I do love that Thousand Sons codex art though.

They didn't even do us the good graces of a new character either.

Oh, also they put him back

Guess they did a single good thing for our grand faction (even if the army they're in is 3000% going away in 11th).

The new robots share some appearance features with Tz:cuss:r, which triggered PTSD of some TSons customers.

What are you talking about? I really don't see anything Tzaangor about them,.as a Tzaangor fan

Smaller than I was hoping for but I do like them.

Eightbound lord is nice, and a much better than the Juggerlord to lead 8bound, who will now be on puppy duty.

Yeah, I like the Eightbound lord (not the warcom head though), I like that box, but one of the bigger news of it all is that last bit... Juggernaut lord can do puppy duty and/or Bloodcrushers ! On their own the marine cult armies do little for me, I was looking forward to the eventual mixed cult codexes for just this kind of stuff but had gotten fearful by how it was done in EC. WE got tempting to me...

Its also extremely funny (and weird) that karanaks removal was accidental.

I really hope its the paint scheme turning me off of the robots, but I think I might just not like them. I love Daemon Engines, but Tzeentch Daemon Engines should be gribbly and weird.

I unabashedly love Tzaangor, and these hold no appeal to me. That might be your own biases coming out.

While I do like the robots ( I think ? color choice on the paintjob is really bad, I agree with the rest.) and I love tzaangor, I do agree alot with that first sentiment ( probably among the few here.) Tzeentch is about mad and weird mutations, the marines cant ( nor should as its an interesting contradiction imho) have that, so it should.. in my taste at least, be there in their vehicles and their chaff ( only problem with tzaangor is they are a little bit too uniform and clean.. the split headed leader is perfection.)

I had been considering using the Thousand Sons robots as cheaper Castellax-Achea...... I'm not anymore.

Happy for those who like them but they're not for me.

Giant robots are an easy kitbash in this hobby though. I'd be more concerned about rules.

I think I like the Automatons in theory, but I really need to see them with a paint job that isn't ass.

Love this, you might be seeing something in the model the rest of us missed.  I kinda hope that's the case.

Because I do think it's an odd paint job regardless.  It's like back in HH 1.0, the official grungy Forgeworld paintjobs did an actual disservice to the miniatures, when we got our hands on them they looked a lot better?  Maybe it IS like that with the Arcana Mechanica, I dunno, but I 100% am open to the possibility.

They remind me of Geth from Mass Effect with some 40k TS bits stuck on. I think I'll end up being fine with them, but it's so hard to tie the paint scheme with the army, or even to make out details. Some different trim color (don't kill me) or something would break the model up a bit more.

To quote from the other forum:

40k Chozo

I like the robots quite a bit, but that paint job is brutal. I want an article about the chaos boxes; the only Ksons I have are the Hexfire ones, and the new box fits nicely, but I want to see the box contents listed- was there a pair of 'bots in it? They'd be the new model,

I'm so glad Karanak is back. I'm going to end up with the Khorne leggy dudes from the new KT box and they'll get a card for 40k and I've got the WH+ WE Termie guy. I want Karanak and a box hounds. I might conside a small WE force.

I'm not a Thousand Sons player, but I really don't get the hate for those robots. The idea is pretty cool to me and a quite fluffy concept. I mean, tthere are very few actually living - and not even a lot of "living" - Thousand Sons marines left, so it's kinda reasonable for the faction to have to rely on other resources and why shouldn't that be scavenged(?) and ensorcelled robots? Maybe it's just my age showing, but I like this approach a lot better than a new marine unit suddenly appearing for Thousand Sons.
Tastes differ, of course, but I also think they look quite cool and tbh I sort of think people might just have a hard time seeing past the paintjob.

Plus, of course, it wouldn't be a thread about chaos reveals without a lot of rage (and not in a cool, Khorne-approved way either); I'm almost surprised noone has mentioned the 3.5 codex yet...

Those Tzangor robots are shocking because we live in a world where the following models exist :

Well, if your baseline expectation is top of the line FW Heresy models, I guess you're bound to be disappointed with new plastic 40K units. I mean, I can't (and won't) tell anyone to love them, but I think that's just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Eh, they are pretty much the spiritual successor of the latter but physically different enough to prevent whoever in GW hates cross-compatibility from descending on them like an eagle onto a greased up baby.

Also, its Chaos, if there is one consistent piece of lore its that CSM cannot readily replicate most of their nicer 30k things without compromising alot (Khayon explicitely complains that you resort to Daemon Engines due to a lack of optipns). I stand by TS making these things by stealing repurposing other stuff like they did with Hellbrutes. Sort of like trying to trick out a Corola because you can't afford a Lexus (not a car guy, just going for a rough proxy).

Incidentally, on the wider topic. I am putting down a bet in light of the Angrier Bound that the 11th Ed EC release will be a generic Flawless Blade Attache. I think EC are going to be following the WE road due to their similar dev and release frames. In a perfect world it will be a dual build with an Eidolon option but Im not going to bet on it.

Will see of 2-3 years down I get to quote this prediction. This wasn't a complaint btw, I'd be okay if not especially thrilled about being right on this.

I like the bots. Tzeentch/15th legion fan since 2nd, and I think they fit finely. They are not tzaangorified, it may be a shocker but tzeentch esthetics do involve bird skulls...a lot. That doesn't make it a tzaangor thing. Its a tzeentch thing. And enough egyptian to make it t.sons. The stiff chozo look seems fitting for me for a golem/statue themed feel that compliments the rubrics.

I will admit the paint job is crap and works against the models 100%. I can imagine these bots in the classic paint scheme and they would look loads better. I will gladly paint them in traditional colors and add them to my army.

Yeah...I don't know what they were thinking with the paint scheme, feels like they grabbed one of the painters that normally does ossiarch bonereapers and didn't get the memo that was the wrong model.
