I like the robots quite a bit, but that paint job is brutal. I want an article about the chaos boxes; the only Ksons I have are the Hexfire ones, and the new box fits nicely, but I want to see the box contents listed- was there a pair of 'bots in it? They'd be the new model,

Yeah the TS battleforce has one pair of the robots.

The article is a bit lacking. I quite liked the look of the DG battleforce and anybody not watching the stream wouldn't know it exists.

Those TS goat like automata look hideous  they literally have the FW ones they could of used for ideas instead of these weird things what the hell

The DG character is cool but annoying considering how much damn characters DG have, if he's a lone ope with aura effect cool otherwise another character that can join plague marines will just mean he's either never used or always kicking out another character depending on his rules

Just hope we don't lose even more options in each legion codex as will seriously be angry if I can't use my predators or helbrutes anymore like EC now can't

Indeed! I didn't notice that there was a DG force

What are the contents of the DG box, if you know?

It actually has two pairs of bots, the images they showed on stream aren't the correct ones it seems. The ones they posted in Instagram and Facebook have more in them and align with the expected discount:

Liking the robots in principle, but as others have said, weird choice of paint scheme that does no favours to them, and doesn't help them fit into the army in any way. Maybe a golden warrior scheme might work?

Not great on the battleforce, confirms TS aren't getting anything new beyond the robots, and most TS players have plenty of everything else in there.

I honestly kind of like the robots. Admittedly, I'm probably swayed by the simple fact that it's an honest to god actual new thing, but they feel inspired by the old RT era chaos dreadnought, and I think a different paint scheme would help a lot.

I'm far less keen on my beloved World Eaters still not getting a proper range expansion. I'll just continue to play with my homebrew expanded WE codex with blackjack and hookers jump pack and biker Berserkers.

Meh.

Just meh.

The 1K Sons bots are a great idea poorly executed. They're also kinda small which surprises me. If they were Armiger height they'd at least be imposing in some way. Pass.

The WE dude makes sense to exist. But doesn't really bring anything new or meaningfully expand a limited roster. I do like the model though.

And we already knew the DG model - and lord knows they needed another character - so wasn't expecting anything there. The DG battleforce is probably the most appealing of the three though IMO

My World Eater playing friend is not going to be pleased this morning, I know they were hoping for a little more and honestly I'm quite surprised at such a small showing for them and TSons. I wasn't really expecting the hallowed 'second wave' I've seen mentioned here and there online but I really did expect more than one set a piece for each legion, even taking the new Jakhals into consideration.  The Space Wolf reveal immediately after doesn't really help things either, the Chaos offering looks like a real pittance in comparison.

The robots are so far removed from what I imagined they would be that I don't really know what to think of them. I wasn't expecting to see a direct copy of similar HH units but whatever I thought they would be it wasn't this. I agree with others that the colour scheme really isn't helping but even it other scheme I'm not sure they'll be for me.

Those TS Automata are... well... err... t-they're certainly new models!

I think between the lack of 'sneaky power armoured Kill Team' and the Butcher-Surgeon, World Eaters players are going to have to stop reading into the lore for expectations of what their new models end up being, because damn they keep getting burned.

I really like the robots, its just a naff paint job.

They look like the tall statues you would see lining a walkway or plaza in ancient Egypt, which is presumably the idea.

They just went all in on the 'sand paint scheme' and its done them no favours.

The new Codices are hopefully a step in the right direction, bulking things out and adding variety with the introduction of god-specific daemons (and the new Bloodletter-emulating Kill Team in the case of the WE).

However, World Eaters and Thousand Sons continue to have the weird half-a-Codex feel that the Adeptus Mechanicus had when they first came out. I'm pleased to see that the Emperor's Children and Death Guard avoided the trend, but sad for WE and TS enthusiasts.

On the models, the World Eater character is... fine? Unimaginative but quite a fun model in isolation. The collar forming the Legion symbol is a clever touch, and it's nice to see some old-school Chaos body horror in the arm-cleaver thing. Looks like a large model, too, and I think that's really fitting for Khorne. A solid 3 out of 5 for me.

I like the Death Guard character. While likewise an iteration on what's already there, in the case of the DG, whose range is diverse and includes lots of distinctive stand-out models, I appreciate some more workaday figures like this. I really like the slung sword, too, and the silhouette is appealingly simple.

The new Thousand Sons robots... well, these are one of those rare, rare kits about which I just have absolutely nothing positive to say. Toy-like, aesthetically disconnected from the rest of the range, unexpected in a bad way, and – to my taste at least – a complete waste of a release.

I'm sorely disappointed with the Thousand Sons. For a faction with so much rich lore and potential, I just don't think the GW design team know what to do with them. The releases feel very 'bitty' and disconnected. I'm not sure what I'd like to see for the Sons of Magnus in the future, but at this point I'd welcome a complete clean slate. After all, if ever a unit was made for the fixed-pose modern approach, it's the Rubric Marines – and seeing them at the same size as the other Chaos factions might go a step towards reminding people just how appealing the core Egypt-coded Space mummies really are.

Rubrics aren't inherently a limited faction – in just the same way as Imperial Marines can have units differentiated by weapons (e.g. Intercessors, Hellblasters and whatever the not-Devastators with super-soakers are called), even from the existing material you could easily have a kit of Thousand Sons with boltguns; a separate kits with the flamers; and a third with the rotor cannons.  That'd retain the aesthetic of 'monolithic phalanx of mindless golems' while giving Thousand Sons enthusiasts some variety in power armour.

I think the new Thousand Sons robots have the wrong paint scheme. I feel they would look a lot better if they just had the same colours as the signature GW range, and not a focus on bone white.

Well, if your baseline expectation is top of the line FW Heresy models, I guess you're bound to be disappointed with new plastic 40K units. I mean, I can't (and won't) tell anyone to love them, but I think that's just setting yourself up for disappointment.

GW recently released plastic Castellax automata, there’s no reason why they can’t make the Achea in plastic as well, or at least something similar.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I didn’t think the robots were that bad.  If they’d not let their Deathwing painter paint these it would have probably helped.

The WE guy looks like a kitbash of an Eightbound and a Possessed.  Not horrible but seems pretty lazy.

Those Tzangor robots are shocking because we live in a world where the following models exist :

This is exactly what I thought when I first saw it: the designers could have gone armored scarab, instead they went desiccated Hyena.

The design fails to satisfy the #1 design rule for Chaos models: all damage dealers must be imposing and tyrannical. These just look like stiff, stripped down husks of secondary importance.
