Lemondish
1 hour ago, Karhedron said: I have to disagree here. It is very much GW's problem for creating a two-tier system of army units and the adopting a slopy-shoulder approach to the problem. It is not a community problem for prefer to stick with strictly tournament-legal units. Anyone who remembers the horrors of overpowered FW models in previous editions will understand this. GW have created a situation where anything not in a codex might as well not exist. It does not matter that most Legends units are not that powerful. Too many people in the community have been burned in the past and automatically assume anyone wanting to use a Legends unit is a dirty WAAC power gamer. It may not be fair but for a long period of time it was generally true. I get where you're coming from. The legacy of overpowered Forge World units and Flyers left a real mark. But I do think this is more of a community issue now than a Games Workshop one. GW has been clear that Legends units are legal in matched play unless a specific event says otherwise. The idea that they "might as well not exist" seems to come more from community attitudes than actual rules. It’s understandable that people are wary, but assuming anyone bringing a Legends unit is trying to game the system doesn't seem fair, especially now, when most of them are far from competitive. If the goal is to let people enjoy their models while keeping tournament play balanced, maybe we need to meet each other halfway rather than gatekeep by default. GW has given us the tools to do it - so my question is, why aren't we using them? Vect Aura like Bjorn had 2. Once per game u can pick a unit from strategic reserves and this unit is treated as if it is in reserves for 1 turn longer Ulric gives his unit +1 to hit. If the enemy unit is a monster/vehicle/character unit they also gain +1 to wound. Once his unit kills one of the above unit types, his unit will get the benefit of a saga as if it was completed. His Crozius also has anti monster anti vehicle 4+ now. Wolf Guard Battle Leader: he has sus1, gives a reroll 1 to hit aura, he himself fights on death and has 2 weapon options Murderfang grants wulfen in 6" fight on death in melee on a 4+ and gets reroll advance and charge rolls. DemonGSides
Poor Libby dread. Dead because we got the C-Roster for the miniatures team. Thankfully we got the A roster rules team. Small victories. Can't all be A-team winners like the wolves. What a great codex and even better models. Happy they'll be fun to play for the Vikings among us. With respect, that's a ridiculous question. None of us know the size of team working on rules. We also do know that 11th Ed is already written based on lead times. However, it is totally fair to say that 40k is crazy big which is why a chunk of stuff gets sent to legends as there is too much to support. I'm sure you'd like to offer a number but without knowing GW's inner workings, it's a pointless exercise. All that said, I'm super chuffed for the wolves players as they've waited a long time for a decent refresh. Lemondish
33 minutes ago, HeadlessCross said: Okay, so what's the actual number of what's too many datasheets to support? I imagine that changes for every release. That’s a fair question, but I think focusing on a specific number risks missing the broader point. GW has to manage a huge and expanding game, not just in terms of rules, but also physical inventory and production. They can’t keep every unit in stock or balanced for competitive play indefinitely. Legends is their way of saying, “We know people still have these models and want to use them, so here’s a way to keep them playable without promising the pinnacle of tournament-level support even though we might not sell this any longer.” The real issue is that parts of the community treat anything not in a current codex as if it doesn’t exist, even when you still own the model and it’s still legal to play. That’s where the disconnect is happening. Rest assured - you will still see these flyers on the table exactly as often as you do now. GW aint even able to properly balance the few dataseehts in a codex; so a few extra won’t make a difference Joking aside, I do still use some legends rules - chiefly the HH units for 40k. Unfortunately with the recent releases the rulessets already diverged too much for my liking. Non of the WE affiliated units will get the BS 4+ and rapidfire on their datashert for instance. Considering the BA army box contained 4x of the upgrade sprue, it was not revealed after. It was sold separately after for sure, but it actually is starting to look like maybe the SW aren't getting an upgrade sprue on release. Considering how many full unit boxes they have, probably fine overall as they will contain some extra bits. Worrisome for helmet prefer-ers though.
