I do suspect we will still have access to codex terminators as well as any new assault terminators on the horizon. Has anyone heard more from German translators on how they’ll integrate codex marine units and characters? Hoping Champions of Fenris detachment gets a look over. It’s a swing and a miss in my opinion.

I kinda like it (the trend) that named SW characters can only go with SW specific units, its thematic

I'm not against some stuff going over time, but I'm curious why save the thunderwolf over the storm fang. Why does the stormfang go in a world where the storm raven (which is a fine proxy imo) exists, and so on.

because thunderwolves are :cuss:ing cool

So you agree, those 2002 Heroclix models should've been updated for the modern rules?

I never said that, that's you putting words in my mouth. I simply used it as an example of companies invalidating stuff.

However, I do agree that you should your energy into something more positive. However, based on 99% of your posts you'll just keep arguing for the sake of it and being pedantic.

After the initial splash of leaks, I have not heard anything more from the German codex. I am also curious as to what Codex units we will retain access to.

One thing I have read that I have not seen mentioned yet is that Wolf Priests can apparently join Headtaker units. If true that could be a very potent combo as +1 to Wound on those MC Power axes would be pretty good an reviving a fallen 3W 3+/.4++ model is much better than anything Apothecaries can revive.

I imagine we've got access to a healthy amount of the standard codex units. Apothecaries will be out, as will some of the surviving firstborn units (tacticals/devastators). Beyond that I don't think there'll be that much of a restriction. I'm hoping that units get appropriate keywords for flavour, but we'll see.

Thunderwolf Cavalry are just ridiculous from a lore point of view and the models have aged terribly, so if they've gone then good riddance.

They're not gone, many Space Wolves fans love them, it is a popular kit, and it will have an update one day along with new HQ models.

Tell me what your favourite kit is so I can I tell you how much it sucks and how it deserves to get cut. Or maybe your favourite is something that's been cut already and I can rub it in?

This kind of seems like a fun idea for Amicus Aedes, like “roast my unit”

style.

"ANGEL WINGS ON SPACE MARINE JUMP INFANTRY ARE DUMB, GW FIXED THEM, YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL!" and let respectful disagree reactions roll in.

seriously though, sorry for the outburst. people have been sharpening their knives with the misplaced anticipation that my faves the thunderwolves cavalry were going to get squatted and I'm just tired of it. Not just "I think these will go away," but "I HOPE THEY GO AWAY BECAUSE I HATE THEM AND THEY'RE STUPID!" and its always irksome. they've always been pretty popular kit in Space Wolves spaces and you don't always see that with folks in general discussion areas. i'm going to keep buying them because i love them and eff you.

40k has so many stupid things that to pick one and say 'the rest is okay, but I hate this one' is pointless.

I think Thunderwolves are a stupid idea. That said I love how they look and don't care that they are a stupid idea. Admittedly I have never used GW Thunderwolves, which look a bit weedy. On that note I am looking forward to a re-sculpt. Hopefully with a change to oval bases.

I'd be quite hopeful for the quality of a re-sculpt given how nice the recent Goblins on wolves look for AoS, and agree on changing to oval bases.

I'm just happy the Dreads are still around. I've been busy butchering Redemptor and Brutalis kits to make proxy Bjorn, Murderfang and Wulfen Dreads for my not-Wolves army and I'd have been very sad to have had to run them as standard Primaris Dreads instead. That said I think I saw somewhere that Bjorn is losing his Lascannon option, is that right?

Yes, I think he will only get the options in the Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought kit which means Assault Cannon, Multimelta or Helfrost IIRC. Multimelta might be pretty good in the new Character detachment for rerolls.

5th/7th edition really was a dark time IMO we could of had Cool Viking/Dane/Saxon style lore and modelling instead we got furry helmets and wolf this wolf that everywhere and Santa’s sled

Thank god 30k wolves got it mostly bang on

Thunderwolf riders have always been such a weird choice to me rather than say a 13th company swiftclaw style biker pack, This new release is a great step in the right direction though I think the Headtakers having Wolves as attack dogs is a great idea just looks stupid when they ride them

I always liked the idea of TWC. The original SW Codex mentioned wolves growing to the size of APCs so the concept has always been around. They have also had pretty good rules from time to time which keep them relevant. It is the implementation I am not so keen on, I agree the models have not aged well and stiff and awkward. I am glad they have survived the purge and I hope we get some crossing the Rubicon at some point. With better models, I would definitely consider adding a pack.

I don't mind thunderwolves, I just dont think marines should be riding them. I also thought the old wings on the sanguinary guard were too over the top. The loss of the wings on the renewed kit was the least of that kit's problems.

But I haven't owned blood angels for multiple decades now and I have never owned space wolves, so who cares what I think?

thunderwolves are awful,

i am honestly surprised the dreads survived the cut too, probably GW isnt ready for massive changes to redemptors yet and will wait to refresh that kit before rolling out the inevitable wave of dread variants.

I am surprised that their flier is gone, i can only assume it didnt sell very well.

That's a shame. I always had the idea to buy one and de-wolf it so I can have a single compartment version of the old Assault Ram. I could never justify the price for such a project.

Fliers have been pretty nerfed in 10th edition so it is not entirely surprising. Also the Wolf gunships were unique to their chapter. At least Stormravens and Storm Talons are open to all Chapters. If you squint hard enough, I wonder if you can proxy them as Stormravens?

Stormwolf -> Repulsor ( this is the transport version right ?)
Stormfang -> Repulsor executionor with plasma weapon

makes most sense to me.

same size (if Im not mistaken) and looks more like a gravtank anyway. Or am I seeing things completely wrong there ? (tanks and fliers are not my knowledge forte)
