they also get OC3c which is a bigger deal than you seem willing to make. Not many things in the game will hold objectives against them. And they’re movement 7, which is also a definite buff.

I have rarely found OC making much of a difference. Mostly one unit or the other gets wiped out before getting to counting OC. Movement 7" is nice but only if they plan to charge. Intercessors get Assault so can move 7-12" and shoot provided you don't need to charge.

I wouldn't get too hung up on comparions with Intercessorts. The 4 shot rule was a recent bolt-on to try and salvage a unit that was underperforming.

And now there are rumors of a new Marine codex. Chances are that rule might not even be there when the next update comes.

And again, saying all this, I would argue that there are bigger problems with the game. In my opinion we need to return to having a certain volume of mandatory battleline units in lists.

they absolutely should cost more points than intercessors. Not 30 more though. I think they should be 170, or thereabouts as they basically are best of both worlds of intercessors and assault intercessors

You know what's better than OC3? Sticky objectives.

Nope. Sticky objectives allows you to leave an objective.

Higher OC helps to you take an objective off the opponent. These are very different roles.

There's a reason why in my CSM 10 cultists get deployed on the home objective and the Legionaries go bully the midfield.

I note that in the crusade preview they've gone to almost extreme lengths to not mention Long Fangs. I hope one day we'll get codexes made with a bit of love again.

Talking about this article.
What unit this guy is supposed to be part of?
40k_spacewolfcrusadefocus-may22-rule3-mm

He seems to have an infiltrator/incursor armour, but with scout markings. When I see the leaked codex I see Incursor have blood claws markings (which is strange to me but that's not the question here).
He doesn't have the reiver mask too.
And he doesn't have the Hounds of Morkai colours...

Is it an artwork of the new rumoured space wolves scouts ? (but he has a backpack, which scout don't have normally)

I read somewhere not to put Headtakers in an Impulsor because it could disable their quarry ability.

Is that actually true? I suspect this is a dumb question, but I'm very new.

The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

I think I see the issue. When the Headtakers are embarked, the Firing Platform rule means the Impulsor counts as being equipped with their shooting weapons (bolt pistols). Because the Quarry ability is an ability of the models (not the weapons) the Impulsor will not benefit from it.

However, this only lasts as long as the Headtakers are embarked on the Impulsor. Their bolt pistols are very much a secondary weapon and it is their power weapons that do the bulk of their work. As soon as they disembark from the Impulsor, their Quarry rule applies as normal.

Just one of the new Blood Claws/Grey Hunters, I assume. (Some of the models have "plain" chest plates, and their are some MkVI-ish pauldrons in the kits too, as well as drawn Combat Knives.)

Artistic license on the straps.

While all I see is artistic license ( but I dont know armor details that well.) and I think there is nothing more to it.

The Spacewolf scout rumors arent about neophyte scouts (as SW scouts never have been) but they are a phobos unit.

edit (and sorry for being offtopic):

ngl, and putting a huge foil hat on, but upon rereading that flavor text of a spacewolf vs what sounds like a flying (xenos) dinosaur and what it does.
Im doubling down on my theory that the phobos wolfscouts come paired versus exodites* in kill team, nicely mimicking the matchup of almost 3 years ago of Phobos marines vs Aeldari Corsairs. late edit : nevermind, misremembered the matchup

*I still dont actually believe this rumor, no matter the source or that 2 other teams from that list came to be, I cant, not after 3 decades of waiting XD

I think I meant more that their Quarry rule triggers at the start of the battle, when they select a unit for their Quarry. If they're embarked, aren't they then not about to select a Quarry?

No, that is not a problem. They would still be able to select a Quarry if they were in Strategic Reserve for example.

Awesome, thank you for the clarification and help here

It's MAYBE also because Cultists are less of an investment to hold a home objective. OC3 would maybe matter if you could take these guys as 5 dudes, but you can't.

Most likely candidate is a Reiver who took his mask off.

Or an Infiltrator with a big knife.

ORRRR maybe this rumoured Wolf Scouts killteam is equipped in Phobos armour. Because if veteran behind-the-lines Astartes have an option for infiltrating in power armour now, why would they wear the same carapaces reserved for neophytes?

Ye olde' min of 2 troops and an HQ just made way too much sense. You need your foot soldiers, they need a leaders, have at it.

Nah, screw that. Tax units make the game less fun. If you want people running battleline units, make them actually worth taking.

I'd like to see %s come back.

The fact that armies can consist of anything is just odd. I concur that something should change for 11th.

I doubt we'll see that kind of change for 11th given that rumours paint it as a 10.5. 12th, on the other hand, that could be where they tinker again.

Not sure if this has been brought up yet, but in addition to the stratagem mentioned earlier which excludes units with the Monster keyword, the Spear of Russ crusade relic is also missing from the leaked codex.

If it is 10.5, I hope they learn a lesson about polishing turds.

I still think it is a bit of a stretch but I would love to see Russ return as much as anyone so I will keep my fingers crossed.
