How many of you all are intending to use Haldor as a WGBL? I know most seem to be eager to build the new guy with the shield, but I'm going to want so many of these and I want to try and avoid the copy paste look myself haha!

Yeah, but it wasn't enough.

Saying, about another hobbyist’s project, that they ”didn’t put in enough effort” is -extremely- rude.

Regardless of the end result, you don’t know how much effort went in to someone elses work.

Doesn’t matter who you are, and who you’re saying it to. It’s borderline mean, and very inconsiderate.

In regards to the 13th company project ; the criticism of ”they should have used other models as a base” is nonsensical, since the premise was to use those specific models.

that’s like criticising Jurassic Park for being about dinosaurs

That’s my plan. I think his load-out will go well with grey hunters. Although he may be behind Njal in the pecking order for grey hunters.

All of this back and forth about a particular player’s army, meanwhile GW has given DA Companions, who are *hint hint nudge nudge* redeemed Fallen, Primaris armor. That’s just how they model “40k marines” now to differentiate the product line from “HH marines.”

That's how I'm feeling about the Leader here as well. I'm eager to try both, but I suspect I won't run more than one unit of Grey Hunters in a list at a time, so we'll see.

You guys are mad about the bodies and not the plastic wulfen parts? Reminds of the “you’re can excuse racism?!” Meme from community.

Getting enough 2003 wulfen bits probably would've been challenging or pricey.

Do you mind sharing your grey recipe? It’s fantastic!

I picked one up off of ebay and I'm trying to find a way to slot him into an army. I think he'd fit well with a unit of Grey Hunters, all things considered, but I'm not sure how often I'd run him.

It's just Dawn stone base with administration highlights. I've been doing it this way so long that I'm just keeping it this way to be consistent. If I were to start over I would be experimenting to find something the same brightness with a touch of blue to it... Like, the current Space Wolves blue but 70% desaturated.

Edit: honestly the grey the fella did with those 13th Company models I think is perfect. Like, it has just enough coldness to it that it's ambiguous enough that if you ask "is that a Heresy era grey or a 40k grey?" and the answer is "Yes."

I like my Haldor model so I will still try and find room for him in my army. Maybe as a Lieutenant for any codex squads I bring along. He is Wolfy but not as much as the new releases so he might fit better as a Veteran of the Indomitus Crusade rather than an inductee of the Fang.

This is the most sensible take I’ve seen through this debacle

thay army is very nice.

personally I’m not going to get anything from this release, having just converted a small wolves army.

I’ve decided to switch from dawn stone to Russ grey. A man can only paint so much grey before he goes insane. I’m trying to figure out a good less-blue recipe. A lot depends on the spray coat, highlights, and shades. Luckily I don’t have much primaris painted I’ve been focusing on other factions while waiting for this update. And I’m generally bad at finishing projects…

Debating on making my assault Intercessors grey hunters. I plan on making two units of AI with jump packs out of the new blood claw kit with old 3rd edition jump packs.

I went with the cold grey triad from Duncan's TTC and I'm pretty satisfied with it.  It's not as baby blue as what GW is doing these days, but it also may not be quite as desaturated as you guys are looking for - but that's pretty much where I was aiming.  I airbrushed Cold Corpse Blue to start, then Wolf Grey for midtones, then 50/50 of Wolf Grey/Gravestone Blue as highlight.  Haven't got there yet, but holding pure Gravestone Blue as a final edge highlight.  There's another cold grey triad in Wave 3 that might be more on-point for what you guys want, Faust Blue/Shadow Blue/Frost Blue.  It's more desaturated but has a minor hint of green in there.

This is fantastic news because that was going to be my paint selection as well. I can't wait for my box to arrive!

Very nice, I look forward to seeing what you do with it.  If it matters to you, the shoulderpads are pro acryl titanium white -> TTC dark sun -> TTC skulker yellow, and the gold is GW castellax bronze highlighted with 50/50 GW sycorax bronze/liberator gold.  I just put in an order today for some more TTC paints - mostly flesh tones, lots of faces to paint once the army box comes in.

I'm looking to represent the Duskwolves for this army, so I'll also be playing around with some of the darker blueish tones for the left pad. Maybe Abyss Blue, maybe going citadel for Dark Reaper...we shall see. I think I'll look at getting Haldor ready in this scheme soon, just to give myself something to work on before the big box arrives.

I think I might also try and make it a point to emulate that bronze you have there.  I'd like to stick with a darker rich bronze in place of the brighter golds I usually go for. I've painted so much gold trim in my armies that something new appeals.

I am considering using him as a Grey Hunters pack leader, as his level of ornamentaiton seems to be close to their standards now and, well, the WGBL in the box is absolutely fantastic.

The one in the box is definitely great, but I have a burning desire for more of this unit in my collection than is probably healthy, and I'm not sure I can get over them looking like carbon copies if I stick to just him.

tbf, there's enough lieutenant & captain models available that with the new bling in the new kits, you could wolf those up quite readily.

Very true. I have wolf up several officers over the last couple of years using old bitz.

A little imagination goes a long way.  I bought two of the BA Cap model when it came out, not because I wanted two of the same guy, but it came with a lot of themed bits that when put together slightly differently alongside older bits and other models, makes lots of differences.
