Farewell flying longboats, you will be missed.

Perhaps they got rid of them because they don’t sell well?

A shame as they are cool models.

Perhaps they haven't. We haven't seen rhinos, land raiders etc yet. I can't see the boats going when they've kept thunderwolves.

We won't see Rhinos, Land Raiders, and similar in this book.  It's a codex supplement, not a codex - it requires the base marine dex to work.  GW said we're getting 20 datasheets, and 20 is what's been posted.

I think Stormwolf/Stormfang went as its a very large kit that doesnt sell well. Its one thing doing a production run of a character but a big oul.vehicle with big sprues uses up a lot of production time/allocation and then warehouse space is a different story. (Also the inconsistent flyer purge)

They will be missed for sure. Need to grab a second one soon. Good source of bits in addition to being a neat model

EDIT:

The Head-Takers include a profile for their wolves and the first special rule translates to 'Let the wolves loose' so they propably are able to detach.

)

The English translation is Who Let the Dogs Out?

I suppose a lack of uniformity here with GW is giving us some insight or what kits are popular and what isn't. It's all very kit centric. Were Blood Angels collectors not buying enough Dreadnoughts? Were Space Wolves collectors not buying enough flyers?

I never believed Thunderwolf cavalry would go away even though I strongly expected the finecast characters would. I expect Harald will make his triumphant return one day, but not today.

It doesn't matter if they sold or not. There are people with these models and they should be able to be used in a game, regardless of how trash they might be.

I'm taking this to mean it's something that we're 100% expecting to be arriving.

We thinking this is Russ?

The "surprise announcement none of you have seen coming" is a sarcastic reference to the leaked HH box.

Battlefleet Mordheim.

I am glad that our Dreads are staying but the loss of the Fliers sucks, especially considering the effort I put into magnetised mine.

Removing the Stormfang does seem quite strange if they haven't been removing aircraft units in general and other codex releases still have theirs.

Is there enough overlap between Stormfang and Stormraven to play them as counts-as?

I agree that everyone's communities and should be more permissive about using Legends rules. The "not allowed to use them" is a community problem.

I have a stormwolf and stormfang painted, btw, I am not too broken up about this.

It would have sold better with half-way decent rules. Flyers still seem to be paying for their sins in earlier editions.

I have to disagree here. It is very much GW's problem for creating a two-tier system of army units and the adopting a slopy-shoulder approach to the problem. It is not a community problem for prefer to stick with strictly tournament-legal units. Anyone who remembers the horrors of overpowered FW models in previous editions will understand this. GW have created a situation where anything not in a codex might as well not exist. It does not matter that most Legends units are not that powerful. Too many people in the community have been burned in the past and automatically assume anyone wanting to use a Legends unit is a dirty WAAC power gamer. It may not be fair but for a long period of time it was generally true.

Yep, flying transports especially. IMO skimmers/coptors/prop jets work in game but supersonic fighters not so much. Guess they broke flying transports when they removed hover to disembark

GW has too many datasheets to effectively and realistically support. That's the reality, accept it or deny it. Legends is a good compromise, the community refusing that compromise collectively gets us this status quo. Holding out for perfect solution where GW maintains everything forever is not happening. It gets us nothing, as we've seen. perfect is always the enemy of good and practical. Anyways, I have made peace that this is how folks are going to be about it & I have no sympathy any longer. Balls in our own court and always has been.

Again, I'm probably one of the only people in this threat that owns and painted both of these flyers. I still have my flyers. I could play a game with them if I wanted.
