Combined with rumors, red ones likely go.. Yellow are possibilities. ( Hounds of Morkai is there because the rumor sounds as if the new wolf scouts, probably with a different name.. take both their sceptres.)

13 in above guess as remaining/directly replaced, + 2 new ones in the Wolf guard battle leader and Wolf priest just shown. ( wolf guard headtakers probably replacing wolfguard I left in there.) leaves 5  yellow ones as possibility. Though of those the wolf guard battle leader in terminator armor doesnt have a miniature I just realise.

just a quick guess

As much as I hate it,  I think Wolf Guard are gone and Headtakers will replace them.   Sang Guard went from 5 minis to 3 per unit and DA lost Company Veterans in exchange for ICC.  I don't care for it because  these units all have different roles, but maybe in the future they'll return

I had thought we'd get generic Assault Terminators as part of the 11th Edition box set, like we got standard Terminators for 10th.  But if I were engage in some idle speculation, we've got Imperial Fists on the roadmap.  Wolves are getting a bunch of terminator characters with a terminator squad (if Valrak's generally reliable rumors are to be believed).  Who else is known for their terminator units?  Who has a famous Captain/Chapter Master in terminator armor, that sports a hammer and shield?

Assault Terminators alongside a Primaris-ized Lysander coming with that Imperial Fists update on the roadmap, anyone?

I forget what the rumor was for Fists' new character model, but I do recall that Iron Hands supposedly have a Terminator character on the way.  You know, presuming the Codex Chapter stuff all hits around the same time.

My hunch is that Wolves will retain access to Intercessors. The glimpse of the Grey Hunter and Blood Claw sheets made it look like they are fixed 10-man squad sizes. That means Wolves will need Intercessors for cheap 5-man Battleline units and Objective holders. Just speculation of course.

I'm interested how the minimum of ten and lack of special weapons will impact how these units play. Will have to see how rules and points shake out. The lack of heavy melee weapons has me worried. OC3 Grey Hunters are cool but have to kill stuff to take and keep objectives.

There's always the question of how outdated the sheets are that they're using in the marketing previews.  We already know there is a discrepancy between what they said in stream and what appears to be on the Blood Claw sheet.  Lots of unanswered questions.

Being someone that's slowly coming back into the game (after being in the outer orbits of just the hobby), one thing that has really struck me is that you can't judge a unit just by its datasheet.  Who knows what strats, army, and detachment rules will do for Grey Hunters.  Something that just gives the entire squad +1 on the wound roll or +1 damage can push them up way more than a single melee weapon on the sergeant could.

Special weapons are probably not too big a deal. No one takes Tactical squads over Intercessors for the single heavy and special weapon they can take. As for melee weapons, I think the Pack Leader has the option to take a Power Axe or Power Fist. This basically makes Grey Hunters equal to Assault Intercessors in melee but with better shooting, faster move and OC3. GHs even appear to have the same rule of rerolling 1s to Wound in melee or rerolling all failed wounds if the target is on an Objective. Assault Intercessors are quite a popular unit competitively although most people like the ability to take multiple 5-man squads. Whether a 10-man brick will be as good remains to be seen.

Grey Hunters will probably have power fists but also there will be this new Battle Leader you can attach to this squad with a Thunderhammer. Not something you're doing with Codex captain's or Lieutenants.

If you can still take up to 15 blood claws, those units can be good at dumping wounds on something after jumping out of the Land Raider Crusader. At least with them, I don't see much changing in their historic utility. Even if not the most optimal, it's certainly a lot of fun.

Grey hunters I think will probably be fine. They'll definitely be pretty good at taking out backfield objective holders. If 10 is the size of the squad, it would be nice if they retained access to Rhinos, although I think an extra inch of movement will mitigate that somewhat.

According to the Space Marine 10.2 rumor thread there’s a drop pod update coming. Real curious to see how they’d play with that.

I was thinking the exact same thing after I posted, as you mention it.

extra inch of movement and i imagine their guns will have the assault rule at least, so on average 11" move and still able to shoot

Not to mention the potential of a Detachment bonus playing a role in some way here.

So just a thought, with Death Company precedent, I think we can expect Sky Claws.

I don’t think there is a 40k universe that GW gets rid of Bjorn. I am guessing he is one of the most bought models of all time and a new kit for him would almost be permanently out of stock.

I am guessing our Wolf Scouts are just gonna be variations of the Hounds of Morkai, already Primara-Sized and have SW rules.

if I had to trade, I would have gotten rid of Logan, elevated Ragnar, and keep Bjorn.

On the fence about TWC, loved playing them when they came out, but don’t mind if they go the way of the dodo.

Expecting to lose some of the Vanilla Primaris with the new GH and BC, but excited to see how they keep in other Primaris units and what army rules will change/enhance them.

With what has been released, I will be going full blown new army, full Primaris. The size disparity killed the game for me back when Primaris first came out.

I'm suspecting probably pre-order announcement either April 13th or 20th then pre-orders go live on either the 19th or the 26th. Leaning more towards the latter for a May release.

Darnath Lysander. There's a decent chance Crimson Fists will also be getting a new model for Pedro Kantor since he's got a datasheet in the codex but no model.

Weren't Company Veterans collectively replaced by ICC, Bladeguard, and Sternguard for the three ways they were usually built? I expect Bladeguard and Sternguard will get Wolf Guard key word in the same way certain units get Deathwatch when taken in a Dark Angel force.

The last iteration of company command was from 2004 released alongside veterans mkI, which was replaced by veterans mkII in 2007, which in turn got replaced and split into sternguard and vanguard vets in 2008. Those kits lasted until 2020 when bladeguard finally came along.

But those weren’t Company Veterans for Dark Angels? Didn’t they have their own kit with shooting and melee options? I thought it was what people used for Fallen conversions?

Oh those Hunting Wolves.... I need them... for my The Old World Goblin wolf riders   they'd look way cooler on those mounts (maybe be inspired to fight better even

Oh And the rest looks awesome too , For the Wolftime !!

Ah right, that one was introduced in 2007, and lasted as a standalone unit entry until 9th edition alongside and not replaced bladeguard. Sternguard and Vanguard entered the DA roster in 10th and arguably the company heroes replaced it as well.

I think it may be sooner, as they likely want the pre-order concluded before the new HH launch box reveal.

To be honest, this is assuming the Heresy box is targeting a summer release - if it's not a new edition (but rather a 2.5E) we may not see it release until October/November.

GW have done a big summer release of a new edition of a core games for several years now. It seems to be a very successful pattern and I doubt they would change it without good reason.

I also don't understand the logic that just because the rules are a 2.5 that GW won't market it as a complete new edition. The marketing department don't really care what rules are in there (reboot or clean up) and just see it as a big box to sell. Even with a rules refresh, they'll sell it as 3rd edition as, to them, that's what makes the bar charts go up
