Tokugawa
Excellent concepts, excellent designs. "All of these miniatures are included in the new Army Set alongside a freshly updated Codex: Space Wolves, packed with background lore, miniatures galleries, and datasheets for 20 unique units." I wonder who would be among your 20 and who would't. All the resin units which GW didn't prepare new models(Arjac, Njal) would leave, certainly. Apokalypsi
I agree. Definitely loving the more balanced wolf/viking look. Can't wait to see the Headtakers' datasheet. The Logan Sled is also apparently being banished and I think the Terminator WGBL will be going as he has not specific model and DAs lost their Terminator Lt. Northern Walker
My thoughts on the 20 datasheets. The following are rumoured/can be assumed will be included/already exist or announced Logan Grimnar Ragnar Blackmane Arjac Rockfist Njall Stormcaller Wolf Guard Battle Leader Wolf Priest Wolf Guard Terminators Wolf Guard Headtakers Wolf Scouts Fenrisian/Hunting Wolves (new ones) Hounds of Morkai Wulfen Dreadnought (brutalis) Wulfen Blood Claws Grey Hunters That's 15 datasheets, leaving us 5 remaining. This means that we're losing some plastic kits to Legends, as well as . This means most of: Krom Dragongaze Ulrik the Slayer Iron Priest Bjorn/Murderfang/Venerable Dreadnought Stormfang/Stormwolf Thunderwolf Cavalry aren't going to make it. Writing is obviously on the wall for the TWC, and I'm fairly sure the Iron Priest and Krom are done for, which means either Ulrik is a casualty as well (despite a reasonably recent plastic kit, albeit firstborn), or we're losing vehicles and Bjorn! Now, if Bjorn does go, in my mind the only way that would be even temporarily palatable would be Russ being the 20th unique datasheet. Thoughts folks? Karhedron
I think that we will keep the StormFang/Wolf as they are a new plastic kit (7th edition) but I could be wrong. That would be 2 sheets Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385581-new-era-for-space-wolves/#findComment-6102185 Share on other sites
Galron
Krom Dragongaze Ulrik the Slayer Iron Priest Bjorn/Murderfang/Venerable Dreadnought Stormfang/Stormwolf Thunderwolf Cavalry The thunderwolves unfortunately are staying, I would be pleasantly surprised if they were removed. Stormfang/Stormwolf is staying even though I have literally never seen one on the board, ever, not just this edition. I think Bjorn and Murderfang will make it, however they will be upgraded to Redemptors, maybe through a vehicle upgrade sprue. Wolf Guard Dan
I don’t think we will get a Wulfen dreadnought. The brutalis data sheet is basically the same. I think your list is solid except that so it leaves 6 from the bottom. Both fliers, TWC, Ulric, iron priest, maybe Krom. I get the feeling we lose Bjorn for the time being. Tokugawa
This model, although obviously not primaris, is relatively young(2016?) and has modern quality. It survived. Ulrik may survive in this way. Krom…hmm…not so. He feels too short when placed next to today's models. Kassill
So excited for this release. I honestly had written off Grey Hunters and Blood Claws but they delivered. Wolf Guard Head Takers look super duper sweet and the WGBL and Wolf Priest are incredibly heroic and fearsome. Even the subtle armor blending/alterations add up, old helmet Mk's, alternate knee pads, lower neck collars, less aquillas, rivets, gems/icons, etc etc. Also the "bolt carbines" rather than the newer bulkier bolt rifles. They captured the feel of space wolves from when I started collecting them in 5th ed while still being upscaled primaris to fit into this new world of warhammer. When GW manages to get it right, they really get it right so props to them and the design team. Not at all what I was expecting to see last night. Northern Walker
I had another though which is this: will we get a generic Wolf Lord? I sort of hope so, obviously people can use the WGBL model as a stand in, but a proper model that isn't a special character would be nice, and BA got a captain so there's precedence. To me the WGBL looks so decorated that he could function as either a Battle Leader or Wolf Lord. "Lord" and "Lieutanant" which released at same time need to be very different on appearance, to avoid overlapping. "John Blanche's BT Castellan" is a good example, it's a cool looking model while keep different to other known marine infantry HQ models. Brother Harnil
Isn't the WGBL or Lieutenant the Krom Dragongaze model Primarisized? A head, an axe and a pistol arm away. Loving the new sculpts. Just the way I would kitbash them if I had the skills . Anyways I'm off on my 3 new paper rounds to start saving money for the box... I expect it to go towards € 200 -ish? Slightly disappointing but not really surprising. On the whole we seem to be past the days of a single melta or plasma gun significantly affecting the outcome of an attack so I guess it doesn't matter that much. Yeah primaris seem to be pushing back towards legion style units where they are more role oriented. Want plasma? Hellblasters. Want melta? Beef
These new model did not disappoint, If Ulrik is lost that would be a shame as the whole reason i got into space wolves and Warhammer was the original 2nd edition Ulrik model. Also when is this box set out and whats the price? We have been rumoured to be getting a season Chaos. Emperor's Children getting March, World Eaters getting April for an Easter/Eaters pun and then DG/1KSons May/June (order uncertain). That would put Wolves around July, either just before/after HH 3.0 drops. All just conjecture on my part.
