Ork Dreads - can you mount 4 guns?

can you model the ork dread with four heavy weapons, or do they share some pieces in common that prevents it?

None of the guns it has or can have, have the “heavy” keyword. But you can replace the two Dread Klaws with two guns. Add the two guns the profile starts with for a total of four

If you wanted to, sure. Not particularly sure why you’d want to since you’d be losing so much effectiveness by doing so.

The Deff Dread kit comes with:
4 Klaws
2 Big Shootas
2 Kustom Mega Blastas
2 Rokkit Launchas
1 Skorcha

There are 4 heavy weapon joints that connect to the dread's body, though they are sized a bit smaller than the ones for the top row of arms that usually mount Klaws. It shouldn't really look too obvious though, especially if you cover it up a bit with some armor plates.
So yes, it's possible to model from one kit a Dredd with, say, 2 Rokkit Launchas and 2 Kustom Mega Blastas.

However, if you want 4 of the same weapon then it will require another kit or some bit-buys to get the other 2 weapons.
I'd also add that it's very easy to magnetize the arms on a Deff Dread.

 

4 Kustom Mega Blastas in More Dakka! is very fun and I highly encourage it.

I've just built a Dredd and think the weapons are limited to two by the mountings, parts 66 and 67.

 

I've not checked the sprue to see whether there are multiples (I built mine with the box art load out for Combat Patrol)

 

Not saying you couldn't get round it with a little creativity, mind.
