AOS griffins what to make of them

I love the new griffin models and want to kitbash them, what could we reasonably use this kit for?

Riding giant creatures doesn't really ring any bells for 40k.

My instinct would be Chaos Daemons, maybe a Daemon Prince conversion or Daemon Engine, Heldrake? Maulerfiend?

In any case there would need to be significant conversion work to really hit the 40k aesthetic.

Clearly it’s a stormraven, a bunch of dudes hanging on to the back for dear life, and dreadnought carried in its talons lol

I am in 100% agreement with @Grotsmasha.    I mean, birds aren't exactly Grim dark, so if any, Chaos Deamons.

If someone presented this to me with a Scout Squad hanging off of it and said it was a Land speeder Storm (the scout transport), I'd accept it

1. Not a bird, a griffin

2. Anything can be grim dark. Last I checked we have acrobatic circus clowns in the setting.

A nice base for a Squiggoth there – any Snakebite Runtherd/Mek worth his teef would be able to come up with something for him to do :)

Remove the rider and use it as a statue. Also an opportunity to try a marble effect on it.

Howling Griffons Space Marines using the rules for Space Wolves.

Put a captain on top of it with lightning claws, hey presto! A Count-As Canis Wolfborn! (Might be a bit too big, though...)

only things riding living creatures in 40k are orks, space wolves and exodites, for what i know. You could always make some custom SM army chapter with griffing as icon and beast as emperors avatar?

Cyber it up and mount Alvaro/Kenot Friche, Chapter Master of the Howling Griffons on it?

Cyber it up with some cabling, add some big weapons and an Astartes rider and use it as a counts-as Nemesis Dreadknight.
