Trokair
So, it is April, somehow, already, and a month of the challenge (and 2 month of pre challenge prep time) have passed and I have yet to make a proper start on this little project for the Knives in the shadow event. So here goes nothing. That said the scope of this not kill team has expanded when the plastic Ursarax were revealed to be releasing imminently, so I held off on the build phase for now. I did do the 10am dose GW site work today check on Saturday, it did, and my preorder is in. So current state of this project is: Spoiler The original plan, as worked out in discussion in the sing up thread was 4 or so Thallax and a smaller character to lead them. I had some idea for Thallax conversion and sourced some parts. I still want to try them, just with Ursarx kit providing some additional options I hope. In the mean time I have started on the smaller Enginseer/Techpriest leader model. Using the Skitarii Marshal as a starting point and some bits i think i know where this one is going, so will try and get picture up soon. Mandragola, Alby the Slayer, sitnam and 5 others 1 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385620-cohort-4-2-a-ordo-reductor-not-%E2%80%93kill-team/ Share on other sites
Trokair
Enginseer/Tech-priest Work in Progress Skitarii Marshal body with a Sol aux Veletaris two handed axe. I had some trouble using the arms that corresponded to the axe, so the right arm is some random Solar Aux arm (from the Lasrifle lot I suspect) and some greenstuff to try and make it work. I have a head in mind, but I am also going to try and see how a Thallax/Ursarax head looks on this before I make the final choice. I could use the Marshal backpack, or another Admech backpack, but I am actually leaning towards removing the connection point and smoothing that out so that he just has that greatcoat. Trokair
A short update. Firstly the Ursarax arrived yesterday, so I can get onto the kill team proper. Spoiler Secondly, following the tradition of my entry to the last irritation of this contest, I have spent some time over the weekend providing my team with a transport. I know it will be scenic only for Kill Team, but it gives me a reason to build it. Last time it was an open toped chimera conversion for the Easterling / Guard conversion, this time it is an entirely unconverted Trios. Choo choo. Still need to work on some of the small detail, but main hull done. Headless Enginseer/Tech-Priest for scale. gaurdian31, firestorm40k, Dr_Ruminahui and 2 others 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385620-cohort-4-2-a-ordo-reductor-not-%E2%80%93kill-team/#findComment-6105438 Share on other sites
Trokair
Team all built, including more members then technically required as per the original discussed plan. Now I just need to paint them all. Debating between trying to replicate the paint scheme of my 30k Mechanicum force or go for something completely different for this lot. And here they are with the completed Triaros. Some close ups. Trokair
The team is finished. Now I just need to write some fluff for them in the next day and a half or so. Spoiler I based the paint scheme of my existing heresy Mechanicum army, though I ended up not using quite the right blue (on account of which paint I had available on my paintingtable)and also decided to paint more of the armour panels blue to give a bit more visiual diversity compared to the older ones.. Here is a comparison, plastic kill team members on the left, resin Thallax and Ursarx from said army on the right. I can quite remember what I did with the original dark blue to make it have a shiny/lacquered look, maybe that’s just how that blue was. I also did not have quite the right basing material/texture paint, but I think I got it close enough. Trokair
Cohort 4-2 The Ordo Reductor, the Bringers of Blessed Ruins, will bring any weapon to bear that a situation calls for, from the wrath of the Ordinatus, the thunder of the Krios and Karacnos Artillary or the might of the Thallax Legions. Sometimes however the correct weapon is a few specialists in the right place and at the right time. Cohort 4-2 is such a specialised unit. Lead by Siege-Priest Kai and comprising of a series of soldiers whose skills were too valuable to be left to die. Critical insured in service to the Omnissiah these men and women are honoured with the surgical uplifting of the Lorica Thallax so that they may serve once more and deny death a little longer. Siege-Priest Kai Initially an Enginseer by training and devotion Kai showed a particular talent in the field for awakening enemy machinery and turn them to the Omnissiah’s cause. Seeing his potential, his Archmagos ordered him to be seconded to the Ordo Reductor before detractors could level charges of doctrinal heresy against Kai for his skills. Deployed as a Saboteur and infiltrator he leads his Cohort behind enemy lines to weaken defences and infrastructure so that when the main forces of the Ordo enter the field they can truly Unmake the enemies of the Omnissiah. Thallax Knight Adde Adde came into the service of the Ordo Reductor from the ranks of the Secutarii, injured during a multi hour long fight against resurgent greenskin assailants during the recovery operation of a Warhound Scout Titan. While the Sacristans desperately rushed field repairs Adde and his fellow Secutarii held the line, falling one by one, yet standing long enough for the sole surviving Moderatus to engage the Vulcan Megabolter and drive the greenskins back. Thallax Jurryt A competent solider of the Omnissiah with a steady but unremarkable record of duty and service he never got to see Mars again at the end of service, for while his time in the household guard of his Knight house had come to an end, his soldiering for the Omnissiah has not. Inka the Reckless Inka has been augmented, rebuilt, and remade so many time, both during her time as a Skitarii, and a her time since she was first grafted into the Lorica Thallax that there is a running bet amongst the others as to how many more times she will be fit for duty again. Know tally stands at 73 minor mechanical augments, 39 limb or major organ replacement, 17 partial and complete Lorica replacements and 1 Reaver Titan misstep survived. Jeltje War-drummer Hailing from a world that had been made compliant in the early days of the Great Crusade Jeltje entered service into the Imperial army as part of a regiment that had a tradition of a musicians corps for moral support. At the battle of Geratix Pass, after the command Aurax had been taken down by a lucky enemy hit and the office contingent killed Jeltje jury riged the command Aurax vox system to record and broadcast her Wardrums, keeping the regiments moral up while they secured a defensive position after the ambush and held out for relive forces. In the last frantic half hour of the holdout, with her sidearm out of ammunition, Jeltje had to resort using a spare Stubber barrel for both personal defence and drumstick, lest the regiment falter. Fenkir Lightfoot Unlike the other members of Cohort 4-2 Fenkir had not severed the Omnisiah before his cybernetic internment in the Ursarax suite. A Pit-Fighter in the grand gladiatorial arenas of Astorna IIX, Fenkir was one of the many combatants on show during the Victory celebration following Imperial Conquest. Light on his feet he showed exceptional skill against multiple heavier armoured and more favoured opponents. Brought low not by the skill of his opponents, or the fates of combat, but by gunfire from the audience stands. The culprit was assumed to have been someone who had bet heavily the wrong way, but no culprit could ever be determined as that entire section of the audience stance was lit up by the return fire of Imperial soldiers on guard for the attending Generals of the Great Crusade in whose honour the games had been put on. Bleeding out on the sands Fenkir never knew why he had been chosen for cybernetic resurrection, but he Softly Spoken Anenynke In all the years of her flesh life Navel Arsman Anenynke, having served on several ships of the early crusade expedition fleets, has been said to have never raised her voice above a polite whisper. Following her uplifting into a heavy duty variant of the Lorica system Anenynke has only continued her habit even in the heart of battle. Failure to head her word is entirely the listeners fault, and will usually be rewarded by the whistling of a passing shell that so happened to be aimed at an enemy some distance past your head. Edit: I can't get the individual pictures to line up correctly with the text for each, so am putting them after each segment instead. IT worked for the first three or so and then just did not.
