greatcrusade08
So hello. weird title i know, some of you may remember me, long time member, quiet for the past few years due to RL issues: career, degree etc. champion of all things scouty and long time Ultramarine fanboi. I find myself getting back into the hobby in a big way now that i have more free time. Now heres why i feel uncomfortable, im thinking of leaving Ultramarines and joining the ranks of the blood angels. there are multiple reasons for this, partly because most of the other marines players around me run Ultras and i want to be different, most of my old comrades have moved on, but i also really want a bit more combat chop and feel BA would be closer to my chosen playstyle. In reality ive been thinking of a DIY chapter that i can run as bloodless angels if i wanted from time to time (how does this actually work btw?) which allows a bit more freedom in paint schemes too. Ive followed BA commander on the tube for a while and just recently ive been strongly attracted to the faction, so heres me taking the plunge, although i do feel like a turncoat for shifting allegiances. onto the meat of my post, ive managed to obtain a large quantity of primaris marines, i dont want to use older units that are likely to go legends. but also theme wise, if i run as a successor chapter to BA, they would all be primaris right? Since the devastation of Baal killed all the first born? perhaps you can recommend some good books on this, as im very fuzzy on the details, are there successor chapters anymore? I am very keen to try a more phobos themed army, and would be interested in seeing if the BA rules make them a little more worthwhile, especially reivers. i think infiltrators for denying Deepstrike and scouts for up and down are very worthwhile and i like the idea of rage fueled invictor warsuits getting first turn charges and helping with early objective gains. characters and anti tank have always been an issue, so im thinking of taking a couple gladius for the latter, any advice on the rest is gratefully received. Thank you. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385664-uncomfortable-hello-theme-help/ Share on other sites

Karhedron
Lore-wise a lot of Firstborn were killed during the Devastation of Baal. Some survived but if you want to run a pure Primaris army, there's no problem doing that. The only Firstborn units still worth taking really are vehicles and you can legitimately argue they have Primaris crews. Blood Angels are in a good place competitively at the moment largely because we have a great Detachment with Liberator Assault Group. It supports a strong focus on melee without restricting the types of units that benefit. The Death Company and Sanguinary Guard detachments are fluffy but not particularly effective. The Angelic Inheritors detachment we got at Christmas is less choppy but very good and worth a look if you want to run something a bit different. greatcrusade08 and DemonGSides 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385664-uncomfortable-hello-theme-help/#findComment-6104259 Share on other sites

Their appointed hour: does this apply if characters have joined units? although i suppose 'instant of grace' strat could work if not. might make reivers useful from deepstrike? although without the +2S and +1A not sure if they are choppy enough Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385664-uncomfortable-hello-theme-help/#findComment-6104284 Share on other sites

When a character is joined to a bodyguard unit, they are considered a single unit for most situations.
