Apparently, this list is going around and some of it has been confirmed so far by the same Discord user who verified the EC rumors. The part confirmed is the cultists are gone and that the Deathshroud can indeed get a 6-inch deepstrike.

Too good to be true?

However since toughness range stretched to 3-13 in 10th, +1T may not make as huge impact as expected. Bolter still wound them on 5 and fist or melta still on 3.

As a comparision, loyalist heavy intercessor: T6 W3 3+, 2+ against dmg1 attacks, 22pts per model. Seldom seen played.

In fairness to the heavy Intercessors they don’t have the damage output of a plague marine. I’m not sure any battleline troop does. 3 heavy melee weapons per five or 4 special ranged weapons per five.

I wonder if plague marines will keep all their options, or if they'll be split up into melee and ranged versions. Hard to know which way GW will land, crisis suits got split, but DW vets stayed as one.

When they remain a 10man unit and keep requiring (unavailable currently) extra ETB kits ( with no melee options ) to fill that roster its unlikely.

When just focusing on the plaguemarine kit, these are how the options are divided :

Plaguemarinebuilds.thumb.jpg.017ba8d92c2c5d033d4f9d361439e3b6.jpg

The ones not buildable as pure melee are the Champion ( though, the squad leader having less fitting equipment is quite common.) and the one in the middle that builds the 4 non heavy special weapons.

There are possibilities ( none of wich I think they will do ) like having Plague Marines be the 7 man full equipped unit, and, pulling an emperors children, have a 10 man Deathguard Infectors (quickly branded name for DG legionaires) squad thats just the regular guys with classic tactical 2x special 1x Heavy weapon options ( wich is supported by the external 3man kits.)

I dont think they do though, but liked to include the above diagram and thoughts just for informative purpose. Personally with the 4 kits now having popped up in the Chaos spacemarines sector as well, the 3 man reinforcements completely gone, and the rumor they are more elite like custodes.. I gonna assume that its one stuffed Plaguemarine datasheet and it will be the 7 man kit only. ( its unncesarily bothersome with Noise marines having 6, Plague marines having 7 and Rubric marines being 9+a sorcerer that Berzerkers are now 10 XD .. in their own armies its less so, but each datasheet possibly going into codex CSM as well, next to each other its.. like someone putting a red pencil between the blue ones haha )

T6 Plague Marines is definitely enticing, but also isn't the FNP that I really want DG to have.

Yeah, it's one of those things that just seems like such a no-brainer; I really wonder why they've shied away from it this edition.

If they follow the adepticon codex roadmap order, today should be wolves and Tsons and next week world eaters and deathguard but thats too many releases next to each other so who knows (They kept the order aeldari_AM_EC they previewed in LV OPEN)

I’m wondering what they’ll get that is new.

While I assume I misunderstand your question, just in case :

edit :

You probably mean the new army rule ability now that I think about it ?

Interesting we get DG rumors when TS are listed as "Now" on the roadmap. Today's preview for the week will be interesting. It'll be one of the other 3 legion previews for Pre-Order or Necromunda/KT/Bloodbowl week

I don’t believe the order on the roadmap is necessarily the order of release, since grey knights are apparently 4th on the “next” part but have had their model revealed, plus space wolves aren’t fully revealed yet compared to the other 3 on the “now”

T6 and 7.....when will the scale creep stop:ermm:

T14 guardsmen:tongue:

Imo they didn't go far enough initially. We arguably should have a range going up to 30, with infantry anywhere from 1 to 10, machinery and monsters from 10 to 20, and titanic units from 20 to 30.

Maybe even use it to re-introduce concepts like instant death, but at strength thrice the toughness.

It's not really creepy since the scale goes indefinitely now. Arguably, the rules writers SHOULD be playing with those values a lot more to begin with. After all, why can't Marines be T5 standard? Custodes getting T6 wasn't as bad as people thought it was going to be.

Yeah, to be honest it's almost surprising that they didn't take more advantage of the stretched S/T values until now.

I don't know if T6 3+ 2W infantry is going to really enhance vehicles within Deathguard armies or if the fact that everything is sitting at light vehicle and above means the whole army is going to suffer in a more vehicle focused meta.
