Unfortunately, Advance + Charge doesn't stack with disembarking from a vehicle as it is still a 9" charge. I would probably rather use some Grey Hunters. Drop them within 12" of a target so they can Rapid Fire and then if they manage to make the 9" Charge it is a bonus.

I think it was mainly an issue if you wanted the doors to be hinged so you could transport them closed and then open them when you deployed them. If you built them fixed open or closed, they were OK IIRC. How did you build yours?

Ok shows how much i know about the rules, I guess Grey hunters it will be

To be honest my 1st one had doors open and the remaining 2 closed.  That was not due to the hassle of building but more the hassle of painting the insides which made me build the remaining 2 shut.

I really like the rules and the clarifications about where starts/stops the Hull. This update makes the pods a very attractive option again. Yet I did not checked if the old pods received a Legendary treatment already… Anyway it makes interresting dedusting my Russ claw.

I doubt there will be a Legends Update, just like there isn't a Legends for the old Sternguard unit, it's been wholly replaced.

You can always continue to use the old datasheet in casual games, but I'm not sure there's much benefit as you'd also have to play by the old rules of requiring the doors as point of measure.  Easier to just use the updated rules.

So it's deep strike turn one for mere 70 points me have not counter anyway... Nice. Every time GW reminds me I play wrong army:confused: like really? Is there way to stop it? Stratagem? Rule?

Infiltrate and Scout units to broaden the area within 9”of your models where Deep Strike cannot occur? At least that’s what I think the counter is.

Screen it out? Pray you have enough board presence

It can't enter turn 1 with Rapid Ingress, as Rapid Ingress doesn't get around the "No Turn 1 Reinforcements" rule.  It's own rule requires it to be YOUR movement phase, so no real worries.  Out of Phase actions is a good thing to read up on as well as the FAQ around the Pariah Nexus deck.

You deal with it just how you deal with fast transports currently; being better with positioning and planning on dealing with it once you know it exists.

I decided to start looking at this as cool faction terrain rather than a true miniature (as GW apparently does) and bought a pair. Each is in eight parts (leaving off the tactical rocks for now) with a fair amount of mouldline cleanup and slightly softer detail than the old pod.

Here's one with some 5th ed pods, and a pic from a low angle where you can see the missing interior part/gun (which I would rather have had than the rocks, but at least it is not obvious).

They're pretty much identical beyond open footprint. ( took me like a minute to realize I can't just upload these images from tale of painters since they are webp, I had to screenshot them to make them uploadable here)

There are very very subtle differences, with the bevelled edge of the new base being slightly narrower than the old base.

The outer dimensions of the old base (where the edge is vertical) are 40mm at the side and 11mm at the corner.  The inner dimensions (where the floor is horizontal) are 44mm and 4mm.

The outer dimensions of the new base are 41mm and 8mm, and the inner 43mm and 4mm.

In both cases the width of the fins is 4mm, and the slight difference in proportion/size is very hard to see.

Definitely an easy kit to build and holds well together just from friction fitting, without even having bothered to go after mold lines or anything (other than that one door step that will clearly require glue/cement). Base kit is bottom +  half door, engine top, and five identical structural bits, so instructionally it's a breeze too, honestly just a quick glance.

I'm hoping the old one gets ported over to Horus Heresy so it can still be bought; if not, I'd be interested in an enterprising STL maker designing a printable add-on kit to replace the bottom half with a properly functional (and properly detailed!) base and set of doors along with a filler for that nasty hollow void.
