I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the repackaging of the old Drop Pod as a HH model is a direct response to the somewhat irrational hatred the new Drop Pod got when it was revealed.

SO many people were complaining about it and crying out that the old model was better, same as when any Firstborn model gets updated and replaced.

So GW took that feedback, noticed that there was still a market for the old pods and simply moved the kit to HH so it's still available for people to buy.
They can't exactly keep the Kit in the 40k section anymore since it's not "correct" statwise and was directly replaced, so send it to HH and now they don't need to make a new HH Drop Pod either so it saves them money.

I feel like that is unlikely, especially considering everything that we have seen wrt the Liners for HH 3.0, anything that is not a currently sold kit gets removed from the Libers, so if they hadn't brought back the old pod, then they would have had to remove the unit from the liber (according to their self-imposed rules) that's not even mentioning the still in production resin upgrades for the kit that are also in the Libers. I think that moving this kit to Heresy was the plan from the start, part of the pattern of fully separating the ranges to keep the MBA's happy.

GW doesn't have that kind of turn around time. This was planned from before the rumours about a new Drop Pod even surfaced.

I'm of the (slightly cynical) opininion that this was always GWs plan, and they calculated the uptick in sales on the old pod from people thinking it was going away was worth any negative sentiment from the approach that they assume would mostly subside when it's announced in HH.
