Another week, another Rumour Engine - this time, a Navigator skull mounted into a standard / staff?

Gonna guess Black Templars. Their upgrade kit also has a navigator skull in a iron halo-esque piece of gear.

Also, aren't Cacodemons something in DOOM?

The Cacodominus was the name given to an extremely powerful alien-cyborg Psyker who was behind The Howling in M34. The Cacodomius' powers were such that it was able to exert complete control over an area of 1,300 planetary systems. Eventually, it was slain by the Black Templars, but the resulting backlash distorted the signal of the Astronomican and burnt out billions of Astropaths across the Imperium. The resulting anarchy from the events resulted in millions of ships being lost and entire Sub-Sectors descending into barbarism.

 

Something deeply entertaining about the Templars wandering around with the skull.

I think everyone saying Black Templars are spot on, when I saw it I was instantly reminded of Helbrecht's back pack ornament.

Yeah, I'm calling it now - generic Marshal in Terminator Armour, to pair with Terminators / Assault Terminators (when the latter releases).

Makes me think it's a BT HQ, though it could be a back pack topper or a banner pole topper. Either way, my money is on singular character.

I could be wrong but wasn't there some rumor circulating that BT would get a herald/ancient type mini for their next release? I feel like I've read that somewhere. This definitely feels like a banner topper.

That may be because of valrak thought they would get an ancient last time since there was a conversion in the dex he thought it was a new mini. Which he loooves to be teased about :p

It wasnt just Valrak though

Though both Ancient rumors where handwaved with different things ( Valraks with the converted one in official studioshots and this one with a translation thing where the ancient represented the retro BT miniature that was also released at the same time.)

Really hoping for Sword Brethern Terminators but common sense tells me its an HQ character. Always love Black Templars though, cool faction.

Could it be the top of a Grey Knight's force staff? It reminds me of the weapons from Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters.

I went and looked because it got me curious in regards to a "theory" regarding GK kill team rumor and chaos gate daemonhunters. But expected to find something really similar, but I only see variants of the common GK force stave :

If there is one thats truelly similar do you have a link to it ?

 

Though right now it seems to be the most logical is something for Black templars. Wich in itself is interesting, the last couple of weeks a lot of rumor engines have been things that could be pointed at on the more immediate roadmaps. Overcompensation for some of those that have been waiting for more than a year now ?

it´s imperial that´s 100% sure. But is it BT, SM, GK or something different.

I doubt it´s anything inquisition as they gotten alt of models lately and rumours of armageddon are still on the table.

It looks to be either ontop of backpack or staff, since the background in the image is plain. Most likely Named character or another minor HQ unit..

I doubt it would be new Draigo or new Voldus.

@TheMawr your examples are a skull in a three-quarters circle with spikes. To me they are really similar, the new aspect is just the skull's third eye socket. I haven't got anything more concrete than that.

suspect strongly it's a templar. Kind of exciting? Would be the first "new" Templar character in some time. Their refresh remade everything in the back catalogue so this could be something brand new.

The ancient I was in about turned out to be the kitbash one, I saw that and got confused some years back…but speaking of ancients, I’m going to talk about some big things this upcoming Monday in my rumour video, so much exciting things!
