But do the extra shots outweigh the reduced accuracy?

Ridiculously so for the stuff that wanted to be close anyway.

For reference, regular Terminators will get 1.6 shots on average for their Storm Bolters/Combi-Bolters outside Rapid Fire and 2.3 inside. WE Terminators are 1 outside that Rapid Fire range, but 3 inside it.

It's one thing that it's just Bolters we are talking about, but that considerably adds up for the stuff bigger than that. The Reaper Autocannon is deadly under that, especially when it's a unit you'd want to Rapid Ingress or regular Deep Strike to get close anyway.

Now I hope for a WE vehicle / monster detachment; those Forgefiends, Lords of Skulls and Hellbrutes look very interesting

Has there been anything to suggest why GW decided that WE and DG should keep stuff when it was axed for EC?

Also why the change to BS4? I don't see the need for that.

Do the Imperial Fists get any mention in the WE codex or art? I imagine an entire codex that isn't about Imperial Fists must be very hard to stomach.

Considering EC didn't exist before as it's own army where WE at al did, the 'stuff' was never axed for EC, they just never received that particular crutch in the first place. All of the legion specific armies should have their own range, not CSM knockoffs.

Still can't buy Venom Crawlers on their own. They are paired with Obliterators, which you can't buy solo either. It was also a long time before you could even get them that way. I think since it is a character it is simple for them to sell them solo in a short time, since it most likely is on its own sprue.

The Slaughter box is still widely available, so I would assume they will wait until it sells out?

On the one hand surprising, since it should be good savings, on the other I can understand that people are not keen on "battle box: chainblades" after one look at the codex.

I do like eightbound and slaughterbound and even I don't really want to spend money on 9 EB at once.

It’s a great box, but the people that are sticking with WE already have all the models and are happy to bash the HQ in the interim.

That's a bit different though, as the Crawlers and Oblits share a sprue, from when they were originally released as "easy build" models in the Shadowspear box.  As far as I can tell, Slaughterbound is its own sprues and not physically attached to any other product, making it a simple issue of repackaging.

Do you happen to remember how long it took for the Master of Possessions to be released separately? He was a separate sprue in Shadowspear, same with the Phobos Librarian and Phobos Captain if I recall correctly. Man I wish they would release the rest of the Chaos forces again from Shadowspear, those are some good models and it is still the only way to get a Havoc Autocannon CSM if you aren't kitbashing it from the Havocs.

It took a bit, but Shadowspear is a bad comparison for this boxset, its a very different thing more in line with startersets and the SoB box.

Its better to look at previous boxsets and seperate releases this edition, where I think the chaos lords took the longest

This is based on the next week preorders :

Apr 7 2024 Custodes/Orks boxsets
--- seperate release Jun 1 2024
so about 2 months

May 5 2024 Chaos boxsets
--- seperate release Oct 20 2024
so roughly 6 months

Jun 1 2024 GSC/SoB boxsets
--- seperate release 29 september 2024
roughly 4 months
